Canon Girls Camp Workshop for Staff Members from Regional Women’s Training Centres
22 May 2014
Starting from this time, an elite program aims at expansion of scale as “Canon Girls Camp.” In order to share the elite program activities and reinforce cooperation with activities at the training centres, we held a workshop for staff members in charge of teams U-12 from regional training centres and women’s teams U-15 for two days on a weekend of 17 - 18 May.
The following is the two-day schedule and programs. In the communication skill observation course, they did not just observe but tried a Q and A game and writing a composition. It was a tight schedule as you can see, but they understood that programs for players should be the priority and positively involved in the courses.

WATANABE Akinori, Chief for a Team U-15 from Tohoku Women’s Training Centre
Staff members from each regional training center participated in the workshop, and since we were all in charge of teams U-12/U-15, we were able to share ideas and learn many things.
In a lecture, we were able to share concrete ideas about “Japan’s Way.” In addition, during the training observation and hands-on coaching practice, we had active discussions about what we should specifically expect from each generation from teams U-12 to teams U-15 and about what kind of challenges we should give them in order for them to learn. In the discussions, I was able to share my opinions related to future activities.
I would like to bring back what I felt and what I learned from this workshop to my region and make use of them for future activities at the training centre.
AKASE Fumi, Chief for Women’s Team U-12 from Shikoku Training Centre
I was able to see many players, and the high-level performance of teams from all over the country came straight to my heart. There were many quality players, and I was impressed by their ability to communicate with players with whom they played football for the first time.
I was able to talk with coaches from other regional national training centres and exchange information about current situation and concerns each regional team has. I was also able to learn activities which had not been done in my region, so I want to use them as references.
In order to aim world standards, we need to keep improving. I want to have activities that allow us to find the way. I will first bring back this experience to my region and share it with players and staff.
FUKAWA Kumi, Staff in charge of Sapporo Division of Hokkaido Training Centre
I was able to spend very precious two days by interacting with people from various regions and exchanging opinions with them. I will make use of this experience after I go back to my region and devote myself to coaching. Thank you for giving me this precious experience.
TAKAHASHI Kenichi, Chief in charge of Women’s Team U-12 from Kanagawa Training Centre
There were two participants each from nine regions, and through the workshop, we learned three important tasks: “Japan’s Way” “Common Awareness,” and “Information Sharing.” I think it is necessary to have a same goal and develop players with cooperation between JFA and the nine regions.
I was impressed by the fact that the elite program not only focuses on strengthening players but also emphasizes developing them as a person who can adapt socially.
I strongly felt it important to bring back what we learned through this workshop to each region, maintain environment for players, and get understanding from more people.
I would like to thank the organizers to provide me with this workshop as a new attempt.
