343 Family Members Gathered at Kochi Haruno Athletic Stadium! Report on JFA Kirin Family Futsal Festival Held in Kochi
12 June 2014
JFA Kirin Family Futsal Festival is a fun event which anyone can participate in and find delight in kicking a ball with families. JFA and prefectural football associations hold this event at ten venues all over the country. Everyone is welcome to participate if you can make a team with more than five people including elementary school students and women. You can also enter a competition by making teams with multiple families. By taking a “Kirin Futsal Class,” even a father, who lacks exercise and is likely to be beaten by an elementary school son practicing football regularly, and a mother, who has no experience playing football but has a daughter who dreams about joining Nadeshiko Japan, can learn a key to enjoy football and futsal and have fun with their family. As an instructor for the class, we welcomed SAGANE Kiyoshi, a former National Futsal Team member.

Comment from Chairman
OTSUBO Mikio, Chairman of Futsal Committee at Kochi Football Association
Futsal has grown in popularity year by year. Many teams chose to come to this event, although there were other futsal tournaments. Thanks to them, we were able to hold this event and have fun. In addition, we have had support from Kirin Group for a long time. I think all participants have enjoyed the event because of their support. We were also able to do well on managing competitions with cooperation from all staff members.
Comments from Participants
BOSHI Asako
There are not many opportunities for children to gather and interact with each other without caring about winning or losing. I think they were able to have a good connection through futsal. I hope that tournaments like this will create an opportunity for futsal to be more popular, and more children will start futsal.
YAMADA Kazuyuki
I came from Ehime Prefecture to participate in this event. This is one of the events my family looks forward to. We entered a competition by making teams with four families this year. Playing on a pitch with grass made me feel like I became a professional player, and I was able to have fun playing matches. Haruno Athletic Stadium is located on a hill, and this gave me a pleasant feeling.
MITANI Yasuhiko
I enjoy playing very much. This was my third participation, and I have played in Kochi, Kagawa, and Tokushima. College students were working as staff this time, and I thank them for being cooperative. There are not many tournaments for teams with girls, so this has become a good experience for us. We haven’t won any match yet, so I want to do better. The condition of the stadium was good too. I want to participate in this event again next year.
