The JFA Nadeshiko Hiroba hosted by Nojima Stella Sports Club took place in Sagamihara, Kanagawa on Wednesday 14 January. The first Nadeshiko Hiroba of this year was held under clear sky and started off in cheerful atmosphere with lots of smiles. After participants worked up a light sweat communicating with each other by playing “tag,” they worked on shooting training. Every time a participant fired an acute shot, cheers like “Wow!!” from other participants arose on the pitch. Everyone seemed to be enjoying football.

In a small two-a-side game, where to show how much they improved in the shooting training, some of them showed their delight just like children when scoring a goal. In the end, they played a match altogether. It was impressive that all the participants were into football with carefree smiles like a little girl.

Since the senior team was launched three years ago, we established an academy, school and goalkeeper school. And since last May, we started to have the Nadeshiko Hiroba as a women’s class for players over 20 years old. We have been working on it to increase football playing opportunities for adult women. Mothers of academy or school kids from Nojima Stella Kanagawa Sagamihara had mainly taken part in the Nadeshiko Hiroba, but now more people like their friends and other local people have come and joined. Every time we have the event, they show full of smiles in friendly atmosphere. As we hold events one after another, we can see their improvements, so that makes us look forward to their future. Through the Nadeshiko Hiroba, I hope women’s football will widely spread its blossoms and smiles as one of the local communities.

I always enjoy this event. Coaches got lots of humour and we can’t stop smiling every time we join. It’s wonderful to be able to enjoy playing football. I started football as one of the beginners. I feel we can improve no matter what age we start at.. My kid also gave me praise like “You got better, Mom!” Anyone even someone who never tried sports before or who doesn’t know football can join this event. Let’s play football together!

The JFA Nadeshiko Hiroba is a ''place'' and ''time'' for the women, from children to adults, to casually start, enjoy and continue playing football and futsal on a periodical basis. We are looking for those who can run this event as well.
