The 38th Empress's Cup Team Introduction Vol. 6: AC NAGANO PARCEIRO LADIES – Newcomers of the league seeking major upset
13 December 2016
AC NAGANO PARCEIRO LADIES were promoted to the Plenus Nadeshiko League this season. Coach HONDA Midori, who used to be the head of Okayama Yunogo Belle, led the team and shook things up in the league this year. Despite their defeat in the opening game, they managed five wins, two losses, and one draw in the first half of the league, making them among the top teams. Although they lost to Nippon TV Beleza in the lead, they dramatically turned the match around from two goals behind against INAC Kobe Leonessa 3-2, showcasing their strong presence in the league. In the latter half of the season, the team continued to win and ended in third place, which was a big success for the newcomers.
Ace striker YOKOYAMA Kumi led the team to victory. As an up-and-coming forward of the next generation of the Nadeshiko Japan, she displayed her talent throughout the season. She started all the games in the league and played for the full 90 minutes, tallying nine goals and scoring in six consecutive matches from the curtain-up, and built up momentum for the team. She continued to score goals and managed 16 goals by the end of the season. Although she missed the title of top scorer, she ended in second place and was named to the best XI. Forward TOMARI Shiho, a partner of Yokoyama, also started all the games in the league, providing them with an additional arsenal in their offence.
The team’s goal difference is +4, showing their ability to score, but they conceded many as well. Unpolished newcomers have a good chance of pulling off a major upset in the Empress's Cup. We cannot take our eyes off the newcomers to the Nadeshiko League.
