Quarterfinals of the 19th All Japan Women’s Youth (U-15) Championship presented by NIKE

29 July 2014

Quarterfinals of the 19th All Japan Women’s Youth (U-15) Championship presented by NIKE

The quarterfinals of the 19th All Japan Women’s Youth (U-15) Championship presented by NIKE will be held on Tuesday 29 July.
ANCLAS Youth (Kyushu 2/Fukuoka) will play against NTV Menina Serias (Kanto 2/Tokyo). ANCLAS Youth have many players who only started playing football at secondary school, but advanced to a place in the top eight with their organised playing style. Whether or not ANCLAS Youth can disrupt NTV Menina Serias’s attack will be a deciding factor; NTV have scored 15 goals in the previous two matches.

Tochigi Soccer Club Ladies (Kanto 5/Tochigi), who had a painful defeat in the quarterfinal last year, will meet Hioki Seagulls FC (Kyushu 4/Kagoshima). Although it was not easy for Tochigi to come this far, the forward Iwashita Kurumi has been in good form, scoring four goals. Can they go further than last year? On the other hand, Hioki, whose aim was to score a goal and win a match, have already won two games. Kubo Kensaku, the head coach, has felt the player’s improvement and noted: "they’ve been getting mentally stronger each match, and now they know they can run a lot to compete."

Although there are many first and second grade students in Urawa Reds Ladies Jr. Youth (Kanto 1/Saitama), the players have the experience of playing against stronger teams, are in a good physical condition and have strong technique. The captain Kutsuwada Ayumi has been playing well. Nagai Yoshiaki, the head coach, commented: "normally she is endearingly ditsy, but once on the pitch, she is the most reliable player." The match against Aosaki Football Club Hanako Clover's (Chugoku 1/Hiroshima), who have strong bond, will be very interesting.

Albirex Niigata Ladies U-15 (Hokushinetsu 1/Niigata) have been struggling with the heat, but they played solidly, scoring 11 goals and conceding none. Ehashi Katsura, the head coach, noted: ‘there is not much difference between the players who start the game and those on the bench.’ The players have not been too exhausted thanks to effective substitutions. On the other hand, Jef United Ichihara Chiba Ladies U-16 (Kanto 3/Chiba) have excellent stamina. One of the players, Ichinose Chisato, commented: "we can run much more than any team in the second half." They are aiming for victory on the back of their aggressive defensive lines and swift counterattacks.
Which teams among these unique eight will advance to the semifinals? We cannot take our eyes off the matches.
