Coach's Comments
Head Coach:Kazama Yahiro(Kawasaki Frontale)
We didn't start off the game well. Somewhat we were overwelmed by tall and long players, but we got used to it after a while in the first half. We lost a goal from their corner kick, but I thought there was not much to do about that goal anyway. At the end of the first, we started having good momentum, so what we had to do was to keep it going and solving their defense in front of their goal. Especially they are good as a team at blocking shots and dealing with cross balls, so to go around their defense, we needed to have other guys rushing in and shoot it, not just our strikers. I told players that we could shoot from long distance even when we didn't have good looks because the goal area was so conjested. We can say in this game our players worked so hard to get a few goals somehow.
I see two things for us in this win. One was to win at home. You can never lose at home to get out of the group stage. We did that and got 3 points. The other is the opponent. We never played against this kind of team before. So players worked that out in the game somehow and got goals. We won this game because we worked it out in the game. These two things make this win so meaningful.
Head Coach:Tony Popovich(Western Sydney Wanderers)
It was a very disappointing result. Our players worked hard, but their long distance shots were good. It is disappointing because we wanted to bring a good result back home.
I am satisfied how we played. We are a small club. We don't have enough depth. A team like this played a good game against a good team like J League's Kawasaki Frontale at this big ACL stage. I am satisfied with that.
