MORIYASU Hajime, Head Coach, Sanfrecce Hiroshima
(In the round of 16) We play home and away, and we played (the first match) at home. We really wanted this win to play the next match at their home. So it was good that we actually won this one. But it is just finishing "the first half" if you put it in a perspective of one match. I want to praise our players for what they did today, but we have to stay focused and remember that there is still "the second half".
And again we had so many supporters in the stadium, and they supported us. So players could stay focused, stay motivated and keep playing aggressively.
I would like to thank all the supporters who were there for us even on a weekday right after the golden week.
TONY Popovic, Head Coach, Western Sydney Wanderers
(In this match) as you can see we’ve got the away goal we wanted, so I am glad. But late in the match we lost the (third) goal. I think 2-1 would have been a good result for us going back home. This makes it more difficult for us, but we have a good record back home in front of our fans. We still believe we can go through.
We played (the A League's Grand Final match) on Sunday for 120 minutes for a loss, so we arrived in Japan tired mentally and physically in Tuesday lunch time. But players fought very hard.
In the first half, we played very well. But in the second half some of us got so tired and Sanfrecce Hiroshima didn't miss the opening in our defence.
Sanfrecce, being the J League defending champions, are very good team. They showed us they are on a different level by not missing the opportunity early in the second half.
