The Emperor’s Cup - changes to the tournament format

Regarding the Emperor’s Cup, the following items were decided upon approval by the Executive Committee Meeting held on 13 November 2014.
Participating clubs
- Four clubs participate in the ACL to take part from fourth round.
*The Emperor’s Cup Organizing Committee is going to select the participating club if ACL-qualified club does not advance to ACL quarter-final.
- The clubs ranked 17th, 18th of J1* (meaning 2nd placed club of J2* and the winner of J1 promotion playoff) to play from first round.
- All 22 clubs of J2 to play from first round.
- The champion team of JFL 1st stage will be first-seeded for first round.
- Eligibility of participating in the tournament is club registered as Category 1.
Note: Disallowed participation of club registered as Category 2
*J1: J.League Division1, J2: J.League Division2

First Round: Sat. 29 & Sun. 30 August 2015
Second Round: Sat. , Sun. 6, Wed. 9 September 2015
Third Round: Sat. 10, Sun. 11, Wed. 14 October 2015
Fourth Round: Wed. 11, Sat. 14, Sun.15 November
Quarter-finals: Sat. 26 December 2015
Semi-finals: Tue. 29 December 2015
Final: Fri/Holiday 1 January 2016 Venue: Ajinomoto Stadium (Tokyo)
Reward for club enhancement
It was decided to broaden distribution of reward to 5th place clubs (clubs advanced to quarter-finals), used to be given to clubs up to 3rd place (clubs advanced to semi-final).
Champion 100,000,000 yen
Runner-up 50,000,000 yen
Third-place 20,000,000 yen (per club)
Fifth-place 10,000,000 yen (per club) *new scheme
