The 4 teams to go through to the semi final of The 18th All Japan Women’s Youth Football Championship are decided!

4 matches of second round of The 18th All Japan Women’s Youth Football Championship JOC Junior Olympic Cup were held at J-GREEN Sakai in Osaka on 4 January.

Pickup Match1

Vicsale Okinawa FC・Navita(Kyushu/Okinawa) 2-0(1st 0-0 2nd 2-0) Tochigi SC Ladies(Kanto5/Tochigi)

Both Vicsale Okinawa FC and Tochigi SC Ladies joined in this Championship for the first time. In the first half, Tochigi SC kept the ball and had the scoring opportunities, but they couldn’t score any goals in front of Vicsale Okinawa FC’s defense. Tochigi SC, whose members are mostly U-15, kept attacking the opponent’s goal supported by the strong vocal support of their parents. “Get one goal!” Both teams tried to get the first goal of the match while receiving supporters’ cheering. Although Vicsale Okinawa FC made a shot after that, the first half ended with 0-0.

On 57 minutes, Vicsale Okinawa FC opened the scoring with KUNIYOSHI Mariko’s goal when she quickly applied the finishing touch to the mistake made by Tochigi SC’s goalkeeper and defenders. The players from Okinawa celebrated the goal with their other teammates from on the bench. 9 minutes later, HIKI Chihiro, who had just come on as a substitute, scored their second goal from a set play. They then defended their goal desperately to keep a clean sheet. The match ended 2-0, Vicsale Okinawa FC moves on to the semi final which was their aim for this Championship.

Pickup Match2

JEF United Ichihara・Chiba Ladies U-18(Kanto3/Chiba) 8-0(1st 4-0、2nd 4-0) FC VICTORIES(Kansai 2/Hyogo)

JEF United Ichihara U-18 won the third place play-off of last year’s Championship beating FC VICTORIES 4-1. This match was an important one, particularly for FC VICTORIES who wanted to get revenge for their defeat. On 9 minutes, JEF U-18 got the first chance. OZAWA Hiroshi, who didn’t play in the first match, got the first goal from dribbling after receiving the ball and she showed her ability to the team’s head coach. On 16 minutes, No.10 player KAMOGAWA Miho dribbled up to the opponent’s goalkeeper and got the second goal. FC VICTORIES, on the other hand, tried to break through JEF U-18’s defense with NISHIYAMA Satsuki’s speedy play, which is one of her advantages, but could not score. JEF U-18 kept attacking and added 2 more goals to finish the first half 4-0.

In the half time, HASEGAWA Kei, the Head Coach of FC VICTORIES, shouted encouragement to the players to boost them. “Is that how much you want to get revenge?!” The players started the second half with even stronger mentality to get a goal back. However, JEF U-18 added 2 more goals on 50 and 51 minutes by YONEMORI Mai. FC VICTORIES desperately tried to defend their goal against JEF U-18’s flexible attacks. The other FC VICTORIES players off the pitch cheered their team mates on as much as possible, but JEF U-18 got a further 2 goals. In the end, the match finished 0-8. FC VICTORIES, who was in the 4th place of this Championship last year, were utterly beaten in the second round.

Comments

WAKAMATSU Yuya, Head Coach (Tochigi SC Ladies, Tochigi)
In the first half, we had more time to attack and we did have some chances to score. However, we couldn’t make it due to lack of our finishing ability. It is such a shame. I just wanted to see how much we, as a team consisting of mainly U-15 players, could play well against a stronger team on this occasion, but at the same time I encouraged the players by saying “let’s keep wining to play at the final”, so it is absolutely a shame to lose the match. Since we won the first match after difficulties, I told the players that the team which never gives up will win, to encourage them to show their strong mentality. I appreciate the players for playing aggressively today.

KUNIYOSHI Mariko(Vicsale Okinawa FC・Navita / Okinawa)
I am just very happy to score for my team. When the opponent’s defender tried to pass the ball back to its goalkeeper, the ball came to me and I just made a shot; that was what I was exactly aiming. The vocal support from my teammates was really encouraging. This is our last time to play for the national level championship with these members with whom I have played since U-15, so my aim of this championship has been moving on to the semi-final. It is indeed nice to win. The team we will play in the semi-final is strong, but I just want to have strong mentality. We all will play very well until the end.

KONNO Yuko, Head Coach (JEF United Ichihara, Chiba Ladies U-18/ Chiba)
Since they set their final line higher than we expected, we got offside more and we wanted to break their offense more wisely. We did get many chances to score with one on one opportunities against the goalkeeper, breaking through their offside line. It would have been even nicer if we could break through their defense from side wings to put in cross-balls to score. What is ideal, I think, is not only scoring through one person’s skill, but also by combination play. We will play against Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies Youth as much as we can in the semi-final.

HASEGAWA, Head Coach (FC VICTORIES/Hyogo)
We lost to the same team in third place play-off last year and I started the game trying to make revenge for “this year is the time.” Our squad was playing somewhat aggressively but looked like getting nowhere. Our defenders began to face down after conceding one goal, second goal and ended up in losing by a large margin. I wish we could score a consolation goal but I believe our squad did their best even though they did not recover from first round fatigue.
