Quarter Final of The 23rd All Japan High School Women’s Football Championship will be on 6 January

Quarter final matches of The 23rd All Japan High School Women’s Football Championship will be held on 6 January, 1 day after the 2nd round matches.

Last year’s champion Hinomoto Gakuen Senior High School(Kansai1/Hyogo)is playing against Shonan Gakuin High School(Kanto5/Kanagawa). For Hinomoto Gakuen, this is the important match to achieve successive victory since last year’s Championship as well as All Japan High School Soccer Tournament, which was held in last August. With their well-balanced play style both in defense and offense, they beat Maebashi Ikuei High School(Kanto4/Gunma), who joined in this championship for the first time, with 5 goals at first, and then Chinzei Gakuin High School(Kyushu2/Nagasaki)with 4 goals in their 2nd round match. On the other hand, Shonan Gakuin who was one of the top 4 teams of the mentioned All Japan High School Soccer Tournament, could come up to this quarter final after 2 years by beating Shutoku Senior High School (Kanto3/Tokyo) , getting revenge for their defeat previously in the Kanto qualifying round. Mamyo Sena will be a key player for Shonan Gakuin in their attempt to beat Hinomoto Gakuen.

Daisho Gakuen High School(Kansai2/Osaka), who has not gone through quarter final for 2 years, is playing against Murata Girls' High School(Kanto1/Tokyo). Daisyo Gakuen came from behind to win against Japan Aviation High School(Kanto2/Yamanashi)at the 1st round, and then they beat Tokoha Gakuen Tachibana High School(Tokai2/Shizuoka)in the penalty shootout; they have shown their persistent play style throughout this Championship. Murata Girl’s High School on the other hand beat Kamimura Gakuen High School(Kyushu1/Kagoshima), who was in the 3rd place of this Championship last year, in the penalty shootout at first, and then kept a clean sheet against Naruto Uzushio High School(Shikoku2/Tokushima)in the 2nd round match. Which of these 2 teams will win, the one from Tokyo, or the one from Osaka?

Another quarter final match is between the teams from Tohoku. Both Tokiwagi Gakuen High School(Tohoku1/Miyagi)and Seiwa Gakuen High School(Tohoku2/Miyagi)are well-reputable teams with victory experiences. Tokiwagi Gakuen played against Sakuyo High School(Chugoku1/Okayama)in the 1st round. Because Shiraki Akari and Kobayashi Rikako played very well, they achieved the victory against the team, who had beaten them in the penalty shootout in the previous All Japan High School Soccer Tournament, with 4-1. They also won in the 2nd round by Kobayashi’s 2 goals. Now they are moving on to the next stage aiming to win. Meanwhile, for Seiwa Gakuen, playing in the quarter final is the big chance which they couldn’t get for more than 7 years. Can they got revenge for their defeat when Tokiwagi Gakuen beat them with 8-2 in the final of the Tohoku regional qualifying round? Both teams know each other very well; it will be such an exciting match.

Fujieda Junshin High School(Tokai1/Shizuoka), who has scored 16 goals so far, is in a good mood. They lost the victory last year by allowing Hinomoto Gakuen to come from behind to win.  This will be the last chance for those who experienced this tragedy, the captain and prominent player Sugita Hina will be one of the key players to win the victory of this Championship after long time. On the other hand, Osaka Toin Senior High School(Kansai3/Osaka)achieved to move on to the quarter final by beating Mie High School(Tokai3/Mie)with 5-2 in the 2nd round. In that match, the number of their shots went up to 18. To get the victory, the team will be the one and ready to beat Fujieda Junshin.
