Prince Takamado Trophy U-18 Premier League EAST: Top high school teams face club teams.

16 April 2015

Prince Takamado Trophy U-18 Premier League EAST: Top high school teams face club teams.

The Prince Takamodo Trophy U-18 Premier League East will hold its 2nd section on 19 April. Omiya Ardija Youth (Saitama) is trying to get its first victory against Ichiritsu Funabashi High School (Chiba). Omiya drew the previous match against Kashiwa Reysol U-18 (Chiba). Even though they could allow the last year’s champion only 2 goals, they could not convert many of their chances. “You guys know what to do”, says Omiya’s Head Coach Mr. ITO Akira. He particularly encourages the players to calm down in front of the goal. On the other hand, Ichiritsu Funabashi High School made a shutout victory against Consadole SapporoU-18 (Hokkaido) in the first match. “We all know when to take risks”, say Ichiritsu Funabashi’s players. They are ready for the league, trying to achieve consecutive victories.

Kashima Antlers Youth (Ibaraki) will play against Consadole Sapporo U-18 in their home ground. Last year, former Head Coach of Shimizu S-pulse Youth Mr. OOENOKI Katsumi praised Kashima’s playing style saying that they had “tremendous fighting spirit”, and that it is still alive this year. At the first match, Kashima beat FC Tokyo U-18 (Tokyo) and indeed they were better in every play such as keeping the ball in very difficult situations and having a good sense of switching between offense and defense. For Kashima, winning the first match encouraged them a lot for this second match. Sapporo, on the other hand, could not be the threat for their opponent in the previous section. They had to defend for most of the previous match so they are expected to get ready better and grab the winning points this time.

JFA Academy Fukushima (Shizuoka) will face Aomori Yamada High School (Aomori) in Aomori. They were beaten by Shimizu S-Pulse Yough (Shizuoka) in the previous second, but they showed several good plays in the match. Mr.Nakata Yasuto, former team’s Head Coach expects them to challenge well in this league by saying “they suffered from 2 draws and 3 defeats in the first 5 matches of this league last year, but this league has only just started.”

In Shizuoka, Shimizu S-Pulse Yough (Shizuoka) and Kashiwa Reysol U-18 will have an intense match. Both teams fought for the league’s victory last year, and Shimizu is expected to show their powerful attack especially when the attacking players make good combinations with communal finishing; this is one of their strengths since last year. Kashiwa’s Head Coach Mr. SHIMITAIRA Takahiro says “I think we will have more time to keep the ball than the previous match against Omiya. I want the players to keep good passing accuracy” prior to the match. How Kashiwa breaks through Shimizu’s defense can be the key to victory.

Both teams could not win their first match each losing by 1 goal, so they want to get the first victory in this 2nd section. Ryutsukeizaidai Kashiwa is in the process of team building since almost all the key players have been changed. In the first match, the Head Coach Mr. Honda Yuichiro checked the players’ abilities by substituting 5 players which is maximum number that is allowed in a match. After the match, he just critised the players “it wasn’t good at all, it was the worst”. Trial and errors still can be found from this team. FC Tokyo U-18 (Tokyo) had a bitter Premier League experience in the previous match against Kashima. They couldn’t score when they had to attack. However, they have many positive aspects. For instance, new players such as SHINADA Manato have fit well into the team. They are expected to have good results of this section and get more confident in the future.
