Which team will start the new season with back-to-back victories? Two derby matches scheduled in the WEST - Prince Takamado Trophy JFA U-18 Football Premier League 2022
08 April 2022
The second sec. of the Prince Takamado Trophy JFA U-18 Football Premier League 2022 is scheduled to take place on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 April.
EAST
Out of the four teams who started the new season with a victory, two will clash this week, as defending EAST champions Aomori Yamada High School (Aomori) will welcome FC Tokyo U-18 (Tokyo) to their home. In the first sec., Aomori Yamada grabbed a 2-0 away victory over Funabashi Municipal High School (Chiba), while FC Tokyo defeated JFA Academy Fukushima U-18 (Shizuoka) 4-1 at home. We will see if either side can start off the season with back-to-back victories.
In Gunma, two high school powerhouses will make their Premier League debuts, as Kiryu Daiichi High School (Gunma) and Maebashi Ikuei High School (Gunma) will each host their first match of the season after seeing their matches being postponed last week. Kiryu Daiichi will face Yokohama F.Marinos Youth (Kanagawa), while Maebashi Ikuei will square off against Funabashi Municipal. Which team will become the first team from Gunma to win at the topflight of the U-18 category?
Another debutant of the Premier League, Kawasaki Frontale U-18 (Kanagawa), will try to follow up on their first week victory when they face Ryutsu Keizai University Kashiwa High School (Chiba) at home. Frontale showcased great aggression from the early minutes in their match against Omiya Ardija U18 (Saitama), as the team fired eight shots in the first half alone. The team walked away with a 1-0 victory, thanks to the PK converted by KAWAGUCHI Tatsuya (#8) in the hour mark. Ryutsu Keizai Kashiwa, who had their match getting postponed last week, will seek to take advantage of their league experience to earn a win on the road.
Elsewhere, Yokohama FC Youth (Kanagawa), who are coming off a loss in the Yokohama derby, will seek to bounce back against Kashiwa Reysol U-18 (Chiba), while AC Fukushima and Omiya will also be looking to win their first match when they face each other in Shizuoka.
WEST
The Shizuoka derby is about to take place for the first time in the Premier League WEST, as Jubilo Iwata U-18 (Shizuoka) and Shimizu S-Pulse Youth (Shizuoka) are set to play this week. The two have faced each other in the EAST in 2018 and 2019, in which Shimizu hold a record of two wins and two draws. After being relocated to the WEST starting this season, Shimizu dropped their first match to Higashi Fukuoka High School (Fukuoka) 2-3 at home. Iwata on the other hand, defeated the defending WEST champions Sanfrecce Hiroshima FC Youth (Hiroshima) 3-1 on the road, earning their first win under the leadership of coach MAEDA Ryoichi, a former player of their top team. It will be interesting to see who will be claiming the bragging rights in the first Shizuoka derby played in the WEST.
Two fixtures will be played between teams coming off a win in the first sec., as Higashi Fukuoka and Nagoya Grampus U-18 (Aichi) are set to play in Fukuoka. Both teams have won their first match by a goal, and we can expect another closely contested match this week between these two.
Shizuoka Gakuen High School (Shizuoka) and Sagan Tosu U-18 (Saga) will also be seeking for their second win this week. Shizuoka Gakuen made their Premier League debut with a 4-0 victory over Ozu High School (Kumamoto), while Tosu won their opening match 3-0 against Riseisha High School (Osaka). With both sides coming off a big win, in will be interesting to see who will come on top in this match played in Shizuoka.
Elsewhere, Cerezo Osaka U-18 (Osaka) and Gamba Osaka Youth (Osaka) will play in the Osaka derby, Vissel Kobe U-18 (Hyogo) are set to face Ozu, while Riseisha will square off against Hiroshima.
All 10 fixtures played in the first sec. ended with a winner. We will see how many teams can start off the season with consecutive victories, while the losing end from the first week will seek for their first win of the season.
