The Prince Takamado Trophy U-18 Football League 2014, Premier League WEST will have Week 4 matches on Sunday 4 May and Tuesday 6 May.

Higashiyama High School (Kyoto), currently 6^th in the standings, will play against Vissel Kobe U-18 (Hyogo). Higashiyama will miss their captain and leading scorer Kamata Daichi due to suspension. The key to the game is whether there is somebody else stepping up for Higashiyama and whether the team can be as resilient as Sako Takuma introduces his team, saying “we are a team with strong wills rather than good skills.” Meanwhile Kobe couldn’t play their passing football in the last match and ended up with a draw. Not to mention the outcome of the match, which team plays their own style is certainly worth watching for. 

Cerezo Osaka U-18(Osaka) are the only team that have won all three matches. Seven different players have scored at least one goal and the team is surely in a good offensive rhythm. As Hashimoto Yuki says, they are “doing practices in a good mood” and well-prepared. Their opponent for the fourth match, Nagoya Grampus U18 (Aichi), have had their stable defence in place, allowing only one goal in three matches. Head Coach Takada Tetsuya says “We emphasise defence, and players are doing a good job”. It will be a very interesting match-up between aggressive offence by Cerezo and confident defence by Nagoya.

Masuyama Asahi of Higashi Fukuoka High School (Fukuoka) says “the accuracy of cross balls is critical” for the success of his team. They will face Nishimura Takuma, a scorer in every three match so far and his Toyama Daiichi High School (Toyama), which are trying to get their first win of the season. Gamba Osaka Youth, scored eight goals in the last two matches, will take on Sanfrecce Hiroshima F.C Youth (Hiroshima) looking for a winning streak after winning a close game against Kyoto Tachibana High School (Kyoto) last week.

Kyoto Tachibana High School vs Kyoto Sanga F.C. U-18

They both have home in Kyoto. Many players of both teams used to be teammates when they were in primary school and junior high school. Those two teams will go head to head. Kyoto Tachibana High School have struggled and lost three straight matches. Nakano Katsuya of Kyoto Tachibana says “There is not a single player who stands out from others in Kyoto Tachibana, so we have to work well together.” Just as he says, players try hard as one for the first win.

On the other hand, Kyoto Sanga F.C. U-18 “were so close to the championship last year. This year we really want to win.” as Sanga’s Okugawa Masaya puts it. The whole team was rightfully fired up before the season, too. However, they, just like their rival in Kyoto, haven’t won a match in this season yet, placed at the bottom of the standings. Who wins the Kyoto Derby and gets the momentum started to climb up in the race?
