Fast-growing school outfits to square off in Kyoto – Prince Takamado Trophy U-18 Premier League WEST
09 May 2015
The Prince Takamado Trophy U-18 Premier League WEST has its matchday 6 on Sunday 10 May.
Vissel Kobe U-18 (Hyogo), who won the last two matches, face Nagoya Grampus U18 (Aichi), who have been struggling and not grabbed any league win so far. The key for both teams will be performances of offensive forces. Kobe "try to improve accuracy of each play because it's important to get a goal through moves by the third person," according to one of their players Fujitani So. On the other hand, Nagoya's Mori Kota says, "We will work together with short passes to break through the opponents." It is a must-see which offence outplays the opponents.
In the contest between Oita Trinita U-18 (Oita) and Gamba Osaka Youth (Osaka), the travel distance may decide the outcome. While Oita play at home again following the last match, Gamba Osaka need to travel from home prefecture Osaka. Their head coach and team staff's capabilities to cope with the situation such as conditioning and player selection are also necessary to let the players play it out until the final whistle.
Riseisha High School (Osaka) meet Kyoto Sanga F.C. U-18 (Kyoto). While Riseisha’s offensive end has “lots of players who use short and delicate passes," according to Riseisha's Yasuda Hiroto, Kyoto's Matsushita Eisuke says, "When we win the ball at a higher position, it's going to be a chance. That's a fun thing." The outcome of the match is likely to be determined whether Riseisha's offence can break through Kyoto's defence. It is expected to be an intense battle both in offence and defence.
After their winning streak stopped at four in the last fixture, Cerezo Osaka U-18 (Osaka) face six-placed Sanfrecce Hiroshima FC Youth (Hiroshima). Because the league is entering a break after this matchday through the end of June, both teams finish this stretch with a victory. The clash between the teams both with signature aggressive defence appears to be tensed until the end.
Pick-Up Match of WEST Matchday 6
Kyoto Tachibana High School vs. Higashi Fukuoka High School
While Kyoto Tachibana High School (Kyoto) reached the semi-final of the All Japan High School Soccer Tournament in 2012 and 2013, Higashi Fukuoka High School (Fukuoka) won the Inter High School Sports Festival last summer. The match features battles between high school outfits who have displayed outstanding performances in the past years. Kyoto Tachibana were not comfortable to play against Higashi Fukuoka last year as they lost all the two matches against them, especially the matchday 11 in late August where they lost 0-4. "The match hurt us mentally. That's because we practised very hard during the summer vacation and we thought we could make it better," according to Iwasaki Yuto. Then, Iwasaki misses this upcoming match. It is interesting to see how Kyoto Tachibana can compensate for the ace's absence, who have scored four goals so far. The opposing Higashi Fukuoka focus on having good transitions between offence and defence as head coach Morishige Junya says "We don't have players who can break through defence with individual play this year, so we will polish our decision-making and attack simply." The Fukuoka side go out for the next match to show what they have worked on in practice.
