Ryutsukeizaidai Kashiwa and Sapporo play for place in Prince Takamado Trophy U-18 Premier League EAST

20 November 2015

Ryutsukeizaidai Kashiwa and Sapporo play for place in Prince Takamado Trophy U-18 Premier League EAST

The 16th Sec. of the Prince Takamado Trophy U-18 Premier League EAST will be held on Sunday 22 November.

Aomori Yamada High School (Aomori) who are in the lead will meet Shimizu S-Pulse Youth (Shizuoka) at home. Aomori have been showing their overwhelming strength at home with five wins and three ties. As there is only two points difference with Kashima Antlers Youth (Ibaraki), who are currently sitting in second place, the team are eager to win this match to have some advantage before playing the two remaining away games.

Ichiritsu Funabashi High School (Chiba) will play against JFA Academy Fukushima (Shizuoka). Although Ichiritsu Funabashi is currently sitting in fourth place, the points difference from the top team is only four, and they can still aim to win the championship.

The team won a sweeping victory 3-0 against their rival team, Ryutsukeizaidai Kashiwa, in the prefectural final of the previous All Japan High School Soccer Tournament. The players noted: “we built up a positive momentum for the Premier League.” However, they will meet Academy Fukushima, who are at the bottom in the current Sec., and have to win to stay in the league. As the opponent desperately needs a victory, Ichiritsu Funabashi need to have a fighting spirit.

F.C. Tokyo U-18 (Tokyo) in fifth place are to play at home against Omiya Ardija Youth  (Saitama) in third place. There are eight points between F.C. Tokyo and the leading team. So they still have a outside chance to win the championship.

As F.C. Tokyo were defeated by Ichiritsu Funabashi in the 14th Sec., it has become more difficult to claim the title. However, the team showed off their mental strength by winning an away game against Consadole Sapporo U-18 (Hokkaido) 4-0 in the following Sec.

Kashima, who are currently sitting in second place two points off the top, will play against Kashiwa Reysol U-18 (Chiba). Kashima have conceded multiple goals in one game only once in this season, showing off their solid defence with the centre back MACHIDA Koki. The players up front also contributed to chasing the opponents and displayed the team’s defensive ability to earn points.

After the coming match, Kashima will play consecutive games against the teams from the top group – Aomori Yamada in the next Sec. and Ichiritsu Funabashi in the final Sec. We must keep our eyes on whether the team will win the coming game against Kashiwa before even tougher matches.

Ryutsukeizaidai Kashiwa High School vs Consadole Sapporo U-18

Ryutsukeizaidai Kashiwa in ninth place with 10 points will play against Sapporo in eighth place with 11 points. Ryutsukeizaidai Kashiwa have been struggling in the previous 10 matches with one win, eight losses, and one draw. Although their characteristic strengths are running power and tenaciousness, they have lost many close games by one goal this season, and have not been able to earn points.

Sapporo, on the other hand, experienced four consecutive losses from the opening game and a change of coach. However, they have been playing well in the five most recent matches with one victory, two losses, and two draws. They have been earning points patiently. Since the coach KAWAGUCHI Takuya noted at the end of August: “we’ll play as though we were in the knockout stage”, the team started to play more practically, just like the one in the 14th Sec., in which they tied with Aomori Yamada with four shots on target.
