A High School matchup in-line for the EAST while the Osaka derby awaits the WEST at the Prince Takamado Trophy JFA U-18 Football Premier League 2021

The second sec. of the Prince Takamado Trophy JFA U-18 Football Premier League 2021 will take place on Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 April.

EAST

Kashiwa Reysol U-18 (Chiba) will face Yokohama F.Marinos Youth (Kanagawa) at Kashiwa. After being blanked in the season opener, Kashiwa’s TAKANUKI Taiei (#8) will lead the offence to earn their first victory. Marinos conceded four goals in their first match, and they will seek to rebuild the defence around their team captain SUWAMA Kosei (#3).

An enticing high school team matchup awaits the EAST, as Aomori Yamada High School (Aomori) welcomes Funabashi Municipal High School (Chiba) to their home field. While both sides are well-known for their defence, their attackers will hold the key to this matches outcome, as Aomori’s NASUKAWA Masaki (#9) and Funabashi’s TAIRA Aiki (#9) will try to become the difference maker in this matchup.

Urawa Red Diamonds Youth (Saitama) will square off against Ryutsu Keizai University Kashiwa High School (Chiba). After suffering a 0-4 loss to Aomori Yamada, SHIBUYA Ryota (#7) will try to lead Urawa to a bounce back victory against the Ryutsu Keizai side who has scored four goals in their first match.

An intense battle in the midfield will be expected in the fixture between Yokohama FC Youth (Kanagawa) and FC Tokyo U-18 (Tokyo). It will be interesting to see who will take the initiative to control the ball possession.

Shimizu S-Pulse Youth (Shizuoka) is another team who scored four goals in the season opener. They will welcome Omiya Ardija U18 (Saitama) and try to win back to back fixtures to start off the season. KIKUCHI Shuta (#3) will try to repeat his feat, as the defender scored a brace off set-pieces, while their ace CHIBA Kanta (#9) is eager to score his first goal of the season. Omiya on the other side, will seek for their first win of the season, as their ace YAMAZAKI Rin (#10) will try to get their offence going.

WEST

After seeing their match getting postponed last week, Ozu High School (Kumamoto) will play their season opener against Vissel Kobe U-18 (Hyogo) at home. While it is expected that NAGASAWA Mikaze (#7) will lead the Kobe offence to take the initiative, we will see how TERAOKA Junichiro (#5) would lead the Ozu defence to keep a clean sheet.

Cerezo Osaka U-18 (Osaka) is another team that will open their season this week, as they will play in the Osaka Derby against Gamba Osaka Youth (Osaka). After welcoming SHIMAOKA Kenta as their new coach, Cerezo are focused on the individual skill-sets more than ever. We will see if Cerezo can escape Gamba’s high-pressure to build-up the attacks from their defence line.

Following last week’s 3-0 victory, Sanfrecce Hiroshima F.C Youth (Hiroshima) will face Kyoto Sanga FC U-18 (Kyoto). Led by TAKAYANAGI Eijiro (#9) who scored a brace in the season opener, the Hiroshima side will seek to start off the season with back to back victories.

Jubilo Iwata U-18 (Shizuoka) who joined the WEST from this season, earned their first win at the new division last week. They will now square off against their Tokai region rival Nagoya Grampus U-18 (Aichi). Coming off a 4-0 victory, Nagoya will seek to break down Iwata’s solid defence line led by KOBAYASHI Ryota (#2).

Premier League debutant Sagan Tosu U-18 (Saga) will host their first ever Premier League match when they welcome Higashi Fukuoka High School (Fukuoka) this week. Following their 0-4 loss against Nagoya, team captain ANDO Toshiki (#3) will seek to reinforce their defence to recoup their loss this week. Higashi Fukuoka, who also lost their season opener, is eager to bounce back with a victory this week, as their GK SUDA Junya (#25) will seek to keep a clean sheet. We will see if either side will claim their first win of the season this week.

In measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, matches will be held behind closed doors, but several matches will be broadcasted on TV and streaming sites. Please stay tuned for the intense battles at the highest level of the U-18 category.
