Prince Takamado Trophy JFA U-18 Football Premier League 2021 resumes after a month break

The eighth sec. of the Prince Takamado Trophy JFA U-18 Football Premier League 2021 will take place on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 June.

EAST

FC Tokyo U-18 (Tokyo) had not played a match in the Premier League since the fourth sec. due to the state of emergency declared in Tokyo. The team will face Urawa Red Diamonds Youth (Saitama), an opponent they lost 0-2 in last season’s Premier League Kanto. Led by NOZAWA Leon (#18), the Tokyo side will try to get payback this weekend.

The fixture between Ryutsu Keizai University Kashiwa High School (Chiba) and Yokohama FC Youth (Kanagawa) features an enticing matchup between a strong offence and solid defence. It will be interesting to see if SHIBUYA Ryota (#7) can lead the offence of Ryutsu Keizai Kashiwa to solve the Yokohama FC defence led by MASUDA Kensho (#3).

Aomori Yamada High School (Aomori) has started off the season with seven straight wins, breaking the Premier League EAST record. The Aomori side will face Kashiwa Reysol U-18 (Chiba) this week, seeking to match the WEST record of eight consecutive wins set by Sanfrecce Hiroshima F.C Youth in 2011.

Ninth place Funabashi Municipal High School (Chiba) will face second place Shimizu S-Pulse Youth (Shizuoka). Funabashi Municipal will seek to bounce back from their loss at the Inter-High School Championships qualifiers, which took place during the break. HARIYA Keito (#5) will lead the defence to try to keep a clean sheet against Shimizu, who currently ranks third in goals scored.

The match between sixth place Omiya Ardija U18 (Saitama) and third place Yokohama F.Marinos Youth (Kanagawa) has been postponed.

WEST

Vissel Kobe U-18 (Hyogo) will welcome Kyoto Sanga FC U-18 (Kyoto) to their home field this week. With both sides seeking for their first win at the Premier League this season, it will be interesting to see who takes the initiative to gain momentum for the rest of the season. For the home side, team captain OZAKI Yusei (#4) will try to lead the defence to keep a clean sheet to give his side a chance to earn their first victory.

Higashi Fukuoka High School (Fukuoka) is another team who is without a win this season. They will face Sanfrecce Hiroshima F.C Youth (Hiroshima) this weekend, an opponent who has no shortage of attacking talents. Higashi Fukuoka’s GK SUDA Junya (#25) will try to contain the Hiroshima offence led by TAKAYANAGI Eijiro (#9), who currently ranks second in the top scorer ranking, and get back on track to compete for the title.

Fifth place Sagan Tosu U-18 (Saga) will square off against fourth place Ozu High School (Kumamoto). Despite losing their first match, Tosu bounced back to win consecutive matches, putting themselves in great position to contend for the title in their first season at the Premier League. NARAHARA Yoshiki (#8) will lead the offence and try to extend their winning streak going.
