Beach soccer Japan shortlisted squad wrap up training camp in Hyogo (22 February)

Beach Soccer Japan shortlisted squad wrapped up their five-day training camp on Sunday 22 along with a scrimmage in the morning. With Hyogo’s local team Dorsal M.FC invited for the scrimmage, the shortlisted squad clarified the results of what they had worked on in the camp.

As the sand on the pitch became harder with the continuous light rain, the players struggled to play earlier. But they started to prove their adaptability with good performances as time went on.

After the practice, Dorsal M.FC players gave the squad warm words “good luck on the qualifiers.” With being aware of responsibility to fight as representatives of Japan, the players will go back to their own team ahead of the Okinawa camp starting on Saturday 7 March not to waste the remaining time until the World Cup qualifiers coming up next month.

Head Coach and Players Comments

Marcel MENDES, Head Coach
We’ve got lots of productive things out of the Hyogo camp. With the hard, five-day training, it seems players are in quite good form ahead of the AFC Beach Soccer Championship 2015. As we were successful in thoroughly going through our tactics, the players showed performances based on the high level of understanding of our tactics in the match of the last day, We are surely heading for the right direction for the qualifiers.

TERUKINA Shingo(SOL MAR PRAIA)
We became runners-up at the last Asian qualifiers, but the level of each country has increased every year. The qualifiers next month will be tougher than before. To reach the top group at the World Cup, Japan always need to be at the closest position for the trophy in Asia. We will take up the remaining month for preparation and definitely get the ticket to the World Cup.

GOTO Takasuke(TOKYO LEQUIOS BS)
I’m glad we had a training camp for the national team in the great environment during this important spell. Combinations among players became better in this camp. The Asian qualifiers will be difficult in various senses, but we will be well-prepared not losing our concentration until the tournament.
