Japan Beach soccer shortlisted squad, training camp in Okinawa (3/8)
09 March 2015
The second day of the training camp for the Beach Soccer Japan Shortlisted Squad team began in sunny and warm weather where was almost 20 C. With very good conditions for the training, the team trained both in morning and afternoon. For the morning sessions, the players had physical strength training and set-play practice. Since there is limited time for the AFC Beach Soccer Championship, improving the players’ physical condition is one of the important goal of this training camp for the Japanese team.
In the set-piece training, the players repeatedly checked several offense patterns for corner kicks. The Head Coach gave detailed advice such as qualities of passing from the player taking the corner kicker, and how to catch the ball effectively in front of the goal. In an intra-squad match which they had in the afternoon, they stopped the game many times to increase the number of scoring approaches from corner kick and throw-in situations.
Coach and Players' Comments
Paulo Rocha, Coach
I’m very excited to join in this Okinawa Camp as a member of the Japanese Squad Team. This team has a good balance between young and experienced players and I think they are strong enough to compete well not only in Asia but also in the world. I am very happy to work with all the players and staff for improving the team so they can get a good result in the qualifying round.
MATSUO Naoya (Pracia Yamaguchi)
This is the last training camp in Japan before the AFC Championship and I think we have had good training sessions with positive sense of tension. I appreciate that we can communicate well especially when we need to correct some things. The whole team condition has been improved, so I just want to prepare well for the qualifying round.
AKAGUMA Takuya (Dorsole Kitakyushu)
It was good to have detailed check of our set plays today. In our training sessions, we try our best to boost our mood, raising voices at each other. I just want to appreciate this given training time to improve ourselves for the AFC Championship.
YAMAUCHI Shusei (G.C. Nerine)
We have had high quality training sessions with good motivation as a team. Even off the pitch, our team mood is very good. We have another 2 days of this training camp, and we just want to concentrate on each training session to prepare well for the AFC Championship and to be in good physical condition.
