11 March 2015
On the last day of the training camp for Japan beach soccer shortlisted squad, they had a practice match with “Sol Mar Praia”, a local beach soccer team of Okinawa.
Having a practice match against the local team where some former squad members play was a good opportunity for the current squad to see how much they have improved for the upcoming AFC Beach Soccer Championship. This was the wrap up of the training camp and the players got some encouraging words from the local players of “Sol Mar Praia”.
To get ready for the AFC Championship which will start on 23 March in Doha, Qatar the team will have the final training camp from 17 March in Dubai, UAE. There will be only 3 teams which can qualify for the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Portugal 2015 which will be held in July. Japan qualified for the previous World Cup as a runner-up of the previous AFC Championship. The team’s aim of this year is to move on to the World Cup as the champion of Asia.
Comments
Marcelo Mendes, Head Coach
We had a very beneficial time in this camp. All the players had 100% level of concentration at every training session. It was the final training camp in Japan before the qualifying round of the AFC Championship and we particularly focused on improving the players’ fitness level and on finalising our detailed tactics for the matches. I can say that the team’s condition is very good and it was a good chance to be more confident for the AFC Championship.
