Japan beach soccer short-listed squad wrap up Okinawa training camp (5/27)

The Japan beach soccer short-listed squad had two-a-day practice on the sixth day of their training camp on 26 May (Tuesday), preparing for a practice match with a local beach football team Sol Mar Praia, which will be the second meeting of the camp. Reflecting on the previous intra-squad game on 24 May (Sunday), they worked on correcting their plays while they also spent a lot of time for shooting practice to raise their scoring ability.

At the dinner time, the team celebrated the birthday of MAKINO Shinji, the oldest player on the team.

Different from the previous practice match, in which they left so many issues, each player of the Japan time showcased his own strengths in the practice game with Sol Mar Praia this time, and wrapped up their seven-day training camp in a high note. After all, the team were able to spend such a valuable time through the training camp towards next month's international friendly against the United States and July's FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup.

Head Coach and Players’ Comments

Marcelo Mendes, Head Coach
Our seven-day training camp in Okinawa was very fruitful. I think that each player of our team improved his shooting techniques and understanding of our tactics by a lot through the trainings this time. Also, the four players that I'd never called up since I became the head coach showed high motivation and it raised the competition inside the team. We are now set to play and I international friendly against the United States, and then have the World Cup afterwards, so I hope our players to maintain their motivation and train hard even after they go back to their own clubs.

MATSUO Naoya (Pracia Yamaguchi)
I focused on improving my own plays capitalizing on the advice from coach Marcelo during the training camp. I would like to be aware of what coach told me even when I go back to my team.

I think that I was able to prepare very well in this training camp towards the international match we will play and the World Cup. I would like to come up with a good outcome in the friendly first, and then carry the momentum into the World Cup.

GINOZA Tomoya (Tokyo Lequios BS)
I think that we were able to work on our training with fresh mind-set as we were inspired by the players who were called up for the first time during this training camp. We spent more time for team meetings than usual, having discussion by watching videos, and I think that we were able to have valuable times together. We would like to elaborate our combination plays and set plays by the World Cup.
