U-18 Japan Futsal National Team short-listed squad training camp report (9/29)

30 September 2015

U-18 Japan Futsal National Team short-listed squad training camp report (9/29)

It was the second day of the Japan Futsal National Team shortlisted squad training camp and they had 2 training sessions in both the morning and in the afternoon.

The morning training focused mainly on the 3 goalkeepers and the team’s Assistant Coach KOMORI Takahiro directed the 1 hour sessions. The sessions were for improving response to the ball in a good form; smashing a tennis ball after zigzagging around some poles in front of the goal, smashing the tennis ball without looking directly at it, controlling 2 balloons in the air, and so on.

In the afternoon, all the players joined in the training. During the sessions they spent most of the time carrying the ball vertically up the pitch towards the goal; moving the ball around avoiding the opponent’s press defence and pass it to pivo.

To master the world-level play for use against any foreign teams, Coach Miguel stopped their play whenever he found it necessary to adjust anything, and they had a practical 5-on-5 session at the end of the day. The players responded to their coach’s suggestions throughout the 2 hours of training.

Players' Comments

MORIOKA Kaoru (NAGOYA OCEANS)
We have just done the second day of the camp and we keep a good team atmosphere. We could do better in some forms of avoiding press defence today and I think younger players particularly did this more positively. I have joined in the squad camp after a while so I just tried my best just the same as the young players. We found more supporters today and that encouraged me. It will be the last day tomorrow; I will show more of what I can do than I did today.

FUJIWARA Jun (BARDRAL URAYASU)
In the morning, only goalkeepers had training and the 3 of us had a good session competing each other. We have only 3 days for the training camp, but I do my best to make it good one.

WATANABE Tomoaki (DALIAN YUANCHAO/China)
In the afternoon, it was the time for us to check our approach as a team. We tried it many times and now we can automatically go into it. I think this process made us have a common understanding about the team’s approach. We still need to work for some details for the next training sessions. Tomorrow is the last day, so I will keep good level of concentration to end the camp in a good way.
