Japan Futsal National Team begin 1st training camp of 2016 in Aichi

20 January 2016

Japan Futsal National Team begin 1st training camp of 2016 in Aichi

Japan Futsal National Team started their training camp on 19 January at Ocean Arena in Nagoya, Aichi in preparation for the international friendly matches (on 27 Jan. in Tokyo and on 30 Jan. in Osaka) and the AFC Futsal Championship to be held in February.

Before the workout began, coach Miguel RODRIGO said to the players, "we have 16 of you this time here, and it’s for the AFC Futsal Championship to kick off in February. I want to pick 14 players right after the international friendlies in this month. I want you to keep doing your best in everyday workout not only for the friendlies but also for the AFC Championship."

Without YOSHIKAWA Tomoki, scheduled to join the squad on 23 January, this day saw 15 players on the court. The session started off with light jog, before getting separated into two groups for more running. The intensity got higher with the time being measured. Since the players had spent their time after the F.League season end on their own, the first half of the camp is spared more for physical fitness training in order to get everyone’s conditioning in line. Then they moved on to body core training and went through various patters of set-pieces in the end. They all made sure different offensive options to wrap up the two-hour session.

Players’ Comments

MUROTA Yuki (ESPOLADA HOKKAIDO)
Today’s training was running, body core training and set-piece drills. Of course we have to leave good results at the international friendlies in January, but at the same time we want to get our conditioning up and keep doing good preparations as a team for the following AFC Futsal Championship.

NISHITANI Ryosuke (FUGADOR SUMIDA)
On this first day, we did only running and going through set-pieces in order to get our conditioning ready. The AFC Futsal Championship is coming up in February, and there are the challenges that no other players but us can experience. In order to get over them, we want to keep battling as one united family. We want to keep communicating with and inspiring each other.

SHIMIZU Kazuya (FUGADOR SUMIDA)
The two matches against Colombia will be important for the AFC Futsal Championship. We want to be ready on our way to achieving our team’s goal.
