Japan Women's Futsal National Team begin camp ahead of AFC Women's Futsal Championship Malaysia 2015
16 September 2015
Ahead of the inaugural AFC Women's Futsal Championship to get underway in Malaysia on 21 September, Japan Women's Futsal National Team began the camp in Mie Prefecture for their final domestic tune-up.
Coach ARIHARA Masaaki told the players at the beginning to find out both good things and bad things of themselves in this camp. The players first warmed up their body with running, stretching and foot step exercises under instruction by FUKUZUMI Arihiro, the assistant coach.
After that, they moved on to training using the ball, as they worked on passing drills and a game where they targeted three different goalmouths with divided into three teams.
The girls squad kept quick decision-making and shifts between offence and defence in mind during the training. In the game-style practice, the Japan coach instructed on positioning at every single play. The players were also discussing their moves with each other.
The team will train at the same place on 16th and 17th before heading for the place for the showdown, Malaysia.
Players' Comments
GK #1 YAMAMOTO Ayaka (SWH Ladies Futsal Club)
It has been two months since we got together last time. This time we met up again to achieve our goal, becoming the Asian champions at the first AFC Women's Futsal Championship. In the limited time until the championship, we will communicate well and execute the Japan style of futsal. Today we built up a couple of common understanding on the defence in the team. We will continue to pile up such stuff and get ready for the tournament in good form.
FP #6 HIGASHIYAMA Maiko (Bardral Urayasu Las Bonitas)
We finally started the activity for the AFC Women's Futsal Championship, which has been our goal. We will take good care of the moment to begin the tournament in perfect form as a team and individual. Today, we mainly worked on what we learned to improve in the last match. We will try to continue what we practised today in the training from tomorrow and afterwards.
