Match Report
Playing in a heat of over 35 degrees, Japan had the momentum by moving the ball from the first half. But perhaps due to the hot weather, they were shaky on passing while some of their players were slow to move to get to passes, and struggled to threaten the opponents' goal. It allowed their opponents to have some counter attacks. But on 27th minute, Kawabe got behind the opponents' defensive line and finally netted a shot in the right corner of the goal. Japan ended the opening half 1-0.
The Japanese side, who substituted all the members entering the latter half, dominated the ball, partially thanks to the fact that their opponents slowed down. But they had hard time getting behind the defensive line of the opponents and were called a lot of offside fouls. Yet Yuruki, who dribbled past the defenders, made the second goal of the game on 68th minute, and then the team began connecting the ball better, increasing their shooting opportunities. Japan added two more goals as Morooka and Tamura made goals on 87th minute and 91st minute, respectively, and ended the contest 4-0. Japan left so many issues through the game, but finished their first exhibition in their Myanmar tour with a victory.
Players Comments
IWASE Go (KYOTO SANGA F.C.)
In my first game in the Japan national team jersey, I felt good that we were able to play a serious contest. As much as we are happy to have won it, we felt we still need to elaborate our individual plays and decision-making. Also, it was hard for us to keep our focus in this hot weather. I would like to perform to my best in any circumstances.
OYAMA Keisuke (OMIYA ARDIJA)
While we struggled in our conditioning playing in this heat and found issues individually and as the team, we were still able to win the game and I think it was valuable. We have another game tomorrow for consecutive days, but we want to manage that and hopefully be on the winning side in the end.
YURUKI Koya (Montedio Yamagata)
As I was watching from the bench in the first half, the opponents were retreating defensively, but I noticed there were spaces behind their line. So I was aware of watching our forwards' moves and feeding passes behind the line. I didn't lose the ball that much, but I still have not been able to make decisive passes or creating opportunities by dribbling or whatsoever. So I feel like I will need to boldly move the ball more. I am one of the guys that were called up as additional members, so it's the best for me to come up with positive outcomes, so it was great for me to make the goal.
NAKATANI Shinnosuke (KASHIWA REYSOL)
We played the game in the heat that we'd never experience in Japan. We had a concept to play aggressively as the entire team, but we weren't moving well because of the hot weather and it wasn't the best football we could play. But we can take it positively that we scored the four goals while allowing no goals. Since the final qualifier will be held in Myanmar, we will need to adjust to the life down here. We only have one more day, but want to finish the tour in as the best form as possible.
