U-19 Japan National Team report (12 Aug): SBS Cup International Youth Soccer

13 August 2014

U-19 Japan National Team report (12 Aug): SBS Cup International Youth Soccer

The training camp went into the second day. In the morning the team worked on their variety of offensive tactics especially a few players going at the goal together and finishing it with a shot. They all tried to understand when to accelerate and start attacking. The afternoon session centred on their defence. First they started with a 2-on-2 passing game with one neutral player, then moved on to 6 on 5 to make sure positioning in front of the goal. Finally they engaged in an 11 on 11 on the full-sized pitch in the end to confirm decision-making on when to put pressure on the ball and where to position themselves.

After the afternoon practice, they had approximately 80 local elementary school students join the practice. By dividing the pitch into five small fields and the players and children together enjoyed small-sided games. With national team players playing alongside and the beautiful turf to play on, children lively chased around the ball and aggressively fired shots of their own. It was short but satisfying experience for people in the local community.

13 August will be the last day available to get prepared for the SBS Cup International Youth Soccer. Children who spent time together today said to the players "we will be at the game." The team will be ready to play a good match against Colombia for fans at the stadium.

Comments

KANEKO Shota(Shimizu S-Pulse)
I am happy to play in this SBS Cup International Youth Soccer again after last year. Last year, our team won the championship and I personally could win the scoring title and the MVP, too, because of all the supports I got from my teammates. We will try our best again for good matches and good results.

OYAMA Keisuke(Omiya Ardija)
I am thankful that they invited me to the team, and now being on the team, I will have to make sure to leave a good result. We have done good practices yesterday and today, so we will keep getting ready for the match against Colombia on 14.

SAKAI Daisuke(Oita Trinita U-18)
First I was nervous to be on the team which is a year older than I actually am, but as the time passed, I think I have been able to blend in. In practice, I will keep attacking the goal more aggressively and will try to do it more accurately in front of the goal. I will work hard to learn as many things as possible out of this experience.
