Coach and Players' Comments
KUSUNOSE Naoki, Coach
This was a training camp in Japan right before we get into the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Jordan. We played our final domestic tune-up game against a U-15 boys’s team. In this game, we checked our team concept and each player’s role, while we tried to develop our physicality and improve on the quality of play. We played defence up front and moved collectively from early in the game, which allowed us to steal the ball deep inside the opponents’ half.
We scored off a defender's interception. Though we only had a short time for the preparation, it was fruitful that we’ve improved our passing speed and tempo. Yet we allowed goals on counters and still need to reduce our mistakes. We have many things we need to work on. So we are going to make our final tune-up in our training camp in Jordan.
GK #12 KOGURE Chiaki (Maebashi Ikuei High School)
A consecutive championship is on the line for us in the 2016 FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup in Jordan. We just want to give all we have and hopefully win the championship. I think we are going to have tough games, but we want to demonstrate our style of football, ‘not giving up until the end’. Individually, I want to contribute to the team with my strength—feeding long balls. In addition, I want to play with positive mentality, not forgetting the ‘challenger spirit’. By living up to the high expectations from those who support us, we hope to come back to Japan with smiles.
MF #7 TAKARADA Saori (CEREZO OSAKA SAKAI Ladies)
We played games against boy's junior high school players. They were physically stronger and possessed better speed. Occasionally, we weren't able to play how we wanted to. However, there were moments where we played collectively and even focused on the accuracy of passes. Furthermore, we were able to create scoring chances and take shots with our own style of football. We would like to repeat our efforts on the things that went well today in the upcoming tournament. We are looking at nothing but the championship, and we want to improve further in our practices to achieve that.
