U-17 Japan Women’s Squad hold official training for Paraguay match in World Cup Jordan

In the morning the day after the Ghana match, the U-17 Japan Women’s National Team were divided into recovery and training groups and started their practice sessions. In the afternoon, they moved to King Abdullah Ⅱ International Stadium, or the venue for the next Paraguay match, and had an official training session for an hour.

Prior to their practice at the match venue, the team attended the press conference, where coach KUSUNOSE Naoki commented, “(regarding the match against Ghana) yesterday luck was on our side. We need to focus on one match at a time. Now we need to make a good preparation for the Paraguay match”. Furthermore, Ueki Riko cautioned the team to keep the focus on the next match, “we won against Ghana, but Paraguay is a very strong team. We need communicate amongst our teammates and get ready for the match”.

The team will have training sessions on 3 October for their next match against Paraguay.

Players' Comments

MF #17 KANNO Oto (NIPPON TV MENINA)
I was very nervous entering the match against Ghana, since it was our first of the World Cup. Ghanaian players had speed and they were physically strong when competing for the ball. However, we took initiative of the match by moving the ball around. We also scored the opener at a desirable moment (beginning of the match), and, thereafter, we were able to play at our tempo. However, we still have issues, making small errors repeatedly, and I believe we still have room for improvements. We need to correct those problems before the next match against Paraguay. Personally, I want to score more goals and contribute to the victory of the team.

DF #19 TOMITA Miyu (Okayama Sakuyo High School)
We practiced at the venue of the Paraguay match. It was my first time to play on natural turf, and I checked on the speed of my pass and the accuracy of my first touch. To go through the qualification round as a top team, we need to focus on the next match first and make the best preparation possible. Not forgetting to enjoy football, I want to challenge myself.
