Japan National Beach Soccer Team's USA & Costa Rica trip report (17 January)
18 January 2017
After three matches against the United States, Japan National Beach Soccer Team moved to their next camp site Costa Rica on Tuesday 17 January.
The Japan team arrived at San Jose Airport in the capital of Costa Rica at 1 p.m. via Atlanta after departing from Miami International Airport at 6:30 a.m.
The football centre owned by the Costa Rica Football Association, located 30 minutes away by bus from San Jose Airport, is the kick-off site for their Costa Rica camp.
After arriving at the facility, the team had lunch and started their first training in Costa Rica from 4:30 p.m.
The training of the day included only a light workout considering the fatigue from a long trip and the USA matches that lasted until the precious day. Beginning their session with a warm-up, the team had scrimmages where they worked on the issues that were raised during the USA camp and wrapped up the first-day training with a shooting drill.
After going through training for the next three days starting from tomorrow, Wednesday 18, they will have training matches against Costa Rica National Team on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22.
Players' Comments
FP ISO Hiroaki (Sol Mar Praia Okinawa)
In the USA camp, we were a bit tense as it was our first match of the season, and there were a lot of things that didn't go well. But during the match, all the players communicated and coached one another on the pitch and then we started to create better chances. In the end, we won three consecutive matches. Today, we left Miami early morning and got to Costa Rica in the afternoon. This facility has a training gym as well as a beach soccer court. It's a wonderful environment. I can't thank enough for such an environment where we can play beach soccer every day. Today, we went through tactics. So I will try to understand the tactics well and prepare myself for this weekend’s Costa Rica matches, while taking one day at a time and doing my best.
FP KOMAKI Masayuki (Tokyo Lequios BS)
The first training after moving from the USA to Costa Rica started in the evening where we had a light workout. We went through light recovery training, reviewed the issues that were found in the matches against the USA, and then got ourselves in shape with a string of shooting drills. I am grateful we can practise in this Costa Rica's wonderful, fully-equipped environment. We have no time to waste ahead of the AFC Championship.
