U-17 Japan Women’s National Team arrives at Uruguay ahead of FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Uruguay 2018
06 November 2018
On Sunday 4 November, the U-17 Japan Women’s National Team left their camp site in J-Village to travel to Uruguay ahead of the FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Uruguay 2018.
Players from Nippon TV Menina and Fujieda Junshin High School, who had their first-round match of the Empress's Cup were seen with the team, as all 21 players left Japan. The team travelled via Los Angeles and Miami before arriving to Montevideo, the capital of Uruguay on Monday 5. Once arriving to the airport, the team was welcomed by a bus wrapped with the tournament logo, giving the players a sense that the World Cup is about to start.
After arriving to their hotel, the team held a light training session at a field located within the hotel. The players were seen working up a sweat as they jogged around. The session lasted about 30 minutes as they took ice breaks to relieve their bodies following the long travel.
Coach's Comment
IKEDA Futoshi, Acting Coach
We have arrived in Uruguay with every player present. It was a long travel, but the players were seen conducting their own methods to make the adjustments to the jetlag. Once arriving here, we were able to conduct a light session to loosen up our body. We hope to condition ourselves well ahead of the tournament.
