SheBelieves Cup

An international friendly tournament between women's national teams from four nations. The tournament was founded by the US Soccer Federation (USSF) in 2016. Japan has participated twice in the past; 2019 and 2020. The host country USA has won five of the last seven tournaments, while France and England have won once each. The four participating teams will play in a round-robin tournament and be ranked according to points (win = 3, draw = 1, lose = 0). A tie in points would be decided according to goal difference, total goals scored, head-to-head record, and fair play ranking.

Comment of Coach IKEDA Futoshi (Nadeshiko Japan)

We are grateful to be given the opportunity to play against a group of strong nations in our first activity of the World Cup year. Since starting our new challenge as the Nadeshiko Japan in October 2021, we have played friendlies against European countries, competed against Asian countries in the World Cup qualifiers, and played matches against countries from Africa and Oceania. This time, we will get to play against the USA, the reigning World Cup champions, Canada, the gold medallists from last year's Tokyo Olympics, and Brazil, the top finisher of the South American qualifiers for the FIFA Women's World Cup Australia & New Zealand 2023™. We hope to gain more experience as a team and as individuals here, and to develop our toughness as we prepare for the World Cup in July.
