Match Report
“00 JAPAN” got the title of the Central Asia - Japan U-16 Football Exchange Programme on 6 March. After the victory, Japan had a practice match against one of the strongest local teams U-18 FK Spartak Tashkent. They regarded this match as a simulation of the quarter final, the 4th match, of the AFC U-16 Championship India 2016. The top 4 teams of this championship will qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017.
Japan didn’t seem to be tired even after the series of matches they had recently played, and started attacking the opponent players of older age from the beginning. In the meeting held before the kick off, the team’s Coach MORIYAMA Yoshiro advised the players: “make a quality of final pass.” Then the players aimed at the good space behind the defence and made a series of good chances.
In the 11th minute, Japan’s midfielder SEHATA Gijo made a deep pass to forward YAMADA Hiroto who sneaked into some space up front and made a chip shot but it didn’t find the net. In the 18th minute, midfielder SUZUKI Toichi faced only the goalkeeper after receiving a pass from Yamada, but his shot was blocked by the goalkeeper.
Japan kept attacking regardless. In the 19th minute, defender SUGAWARA Yukinari picked up the cleared ball in front of the opponent goal and moved it to forward NAKAMURA Keito, who then pulled ahead of a defender and successfully scored the opener.
In the 23rd minute, midfielder KOZUKI Soichiro provided the assist to midfielder AWANO Kento who scored from a deep pass, and in the 29th minute, Nakamura made a deep pass to Yamada and he calmly made a successful shot. The 1st half ended with Japan leading 3-0.
Japan substituted many players in the 2nd half, and kept taking control in both offence and defence. In the 53rd minute, Awano hit a lobbing ball to Yamada and he scored another goal, Japan’s 4th goal. Then Kozuki fired a long shot to the right corner of the goal after receiving the ball from a corner kick.
Defenders also played well keeping a high level of concentration, and they didn’t give any chances in controlling line and in 1-on-1 situation. Towards the end of the match the opponent’s defenders started to move slowly, but Japan kept attacking to get as many goals as possible, and two players successfully got hat tricks: forward KUBO Takefusa in the 84th, and forward Yamada Hiroto in the 85th minute. The match ended; Japan kept a clean sheet and scored 7 goals. Japan ended the Uzbekistan trip with a 7-0 victory.
The next overseas camp of “00JAPAN” is planned in the middle of May.
"00 JAPAN" is the nickname of the U-16 Japan National Team that consists of members who were born after 2000.
Players' Comments
TANI Kosei (Gamba Osaka Junior Youth)
Due to my bad condition, I couldn’t play on the pitch for a while, so it was good that I could go back to the pitch in a good mood. I will keep working hard to make the match with my own rhythm of play. In this trip, I thought a lot about how I can support team from off the pitch and how I can respond when the team’s condition is not so good. Now we are going back to our own teams, so I will make good results in the team to grow up as a player for the next camp.
KOBAYASHI Yuki (Vissel Kobe U-15)
It was good that we could score a lot, but we still had some issues such as quality of our final pass and our shot accuracy. In defence, we should have communicated more by expressing what we wanted to do on the pitch. Today I experienced side back, and it was good that I could work well with side half players and made many interceptions, however, we still have some points to improve such as keeping the ball until raising a cross, and more detailed positioning. As a team we had a very good mood, but we still want to improve our level of patience especially when we can’t control the game as we wanted, and our mind to stay positive.
FUKUOKA Shimpei (Kyoto Sanga F.C. U-15)
Today I played in right side back, and it wasn’t easy, but I could raise my voice and made good assistances. I want to blush up my pass accuracy. When we have some time that we can’t score, we all become a bit nervous even though we know it’s not a good thing, so we want to keep ourselves calm by encouraging each other on the pitch. In my club team, I will keep training myself to strengthen my fitness enough to compete well with foreign players. I want to grow up quickly by taking up the regular position in my team.
