Coach and Players' Comments
Attila Belvon U-16 Hungary National Team Coach
We appreciate the Japan Football Association for such a wonderful opportunity that we have been invited to this tournament. For the players of this generation, it will be very good occasion to play against teams who have different football cultures. With the notion of “Respect,” which is the UEFA standard in mind, of course results are important, but we are looking at the concept of development in this friendly tournament.
Szabolcs Schön (U-16 Hungary National Team Captain)
First off, I'm extremely excited about having come to Japan for the first time. Japanese people are very friendly and as for football, we always play against European teams, so it feels great to play against a team of another continent this time. I think Mexico is tough to beat personally because they have speed. I'll do my best.
Jonas Kokou Komla U-16 Mali National Team Coach
We're pleased to compete in this tournament. For our young players who have come to Japan, it's a great opportunity to get to know the football and cultures of other countries, including Japan. This team will play in the U-17 Africa Nations Cup in August, and we will go in it as the reigning champions. We hope to put up some good preparation through this tournament.
Hadji Drame (U-16 Mali National Team Captain)
We've safely made it to Japan. The hotel and meals are great and we appreciate for their hospitality. Since we've come all the way to Japan, we want to bring the championship trophy back home.
Enrique Echeverria Perez U-16 Mexico National Team Coach
We appreciate that we have been invited to this wonderful international championship. We will be able to play against three teams from different continents, and it will be very valuable experience for our player development.
Emmanuel Haro Gastelum (U-16 Mexico National Team)
Playing in an international tournament like this, it will be a very good opportunity for our young players. We have put up good preparation toward this tournament. We played against Japan in the Delle Nazioni Tournament with our U-15 teams last month, and we lost 1-0 to them. We have some players from that squad, so we would like to give a payback to them this team's.
