U-16 Japan women’s National Team short-listed squad - domestic training camp report (4/27)

U-16 Japan women’s National Team short-listed squad - domestic training camp report (4/27)

The U-16 Japan women’s short-listed squad started their training camp in Shizuoka.
As there were many new faces, the team held a meeting before the practice session to share the team’s direction. So they could understand the importance of the physical aspect of the game, they watched some videos, in which the players from Asian countries intercepted the ball with their bodies and played strongly near the ball in the AFC U-16 and U-19 Women's Championship 2013.

The players held a training session hosted by HIROSE Junichi, the Physical Coach of Nadeshiko Japan, in which they focused on their agility. They started with some physical tests, including 50-metre sprints, bounding training and the yo-yo test, followed by a five-on-five game with four mini goals on the corners in a limited area.

In the meeting after dinner, the players listened to the lectures: ‘training to take you around the world’ by the coach Hirose and ‘nutrition’ by YAMAGUCHI Yumi, the Athletics Trainer. It is essential for players to have physical training and take care of nutrition continuously after the camp as well. The players will continue their practice session from tomorrow, so that they can win in Asia.

Players' Comments

NAGANO Fuka (Urawa Reds Ladies Youth)
In the afternoon, we had a physical test and had some agility training. It made me realise my current ability, which is essential to play internationally. I also leaned how to improve my weaknesses. In the evening meeting, we shared the team’s goal. We gave our thoughts on the theme of the development generation ? ‘play daringly, bearing details in mind’. I’d like to lead the team, staying energetic and focusing on each and every play during the camp.

MORINAKA Hina (Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies)
I learned about agility today. We had five different physical tests. It was very productive, as I learned my current position and weaknesses. We’ll play the games from tomorrow, which makes me both excited and nervous. I’d like to stay vocal, playing hard to win the games. Lastly, my goals for this training camp are to remember all the players’ names within four days, and to stay on the pitch as long as possible, not to mention to enjoying myself.

YONEI Honoka (JFA Academy Fukushima)
We mainly practiced the back-and-forward movement and jump and cross movement in the agility training in the afternoon. I focused on maintaining a low center of gravity, keeping my shoulders and the ground parallel, and staying ready for the quick movement. I’d like to acquire a level of agility to react to international players. We tried various possession training with the ball. In the end, we had some practice games. I’d like to get myself ready and to play with just one touch. I’d like to show everything that I’ve got during the training camp.

NAKAE Moe(Albirex Niigata Ladies U-15)
One of my goals in this training camp is to stay ambitious for goals and show my playing style. Although I’m the youngest here, I’ll try my best not to fall behind other more experienced players. If I continue the agility training we had today, it will improve my stamina and legerity. So I’ll do it in my everyday training. In terms of diet, I know variety is essential. I’ll bear it in mind and get myself ready physically as well.

YONEZAWA Moeka (Hinomoto Gakuen Senior High School)
I learned clearly about my strengths and weaknesses, which I have to improve, through the physical tests and the agility training. I’d like to practice hard, so that I can improve my issues as much as possible during this training camp. I’ll try to find some time to do so off the pitch as well.
