Japan U-18s win Russian international tourney

The Japan U-18 team won the Valentin Granatkin Memorial International youth tournament by beating hosts Russia 3-0 in the final on Sunday in St. Petersburg.
After a scoreless first half, Sugimoto Taro broke the deadlock in the 51st minute and Kitagawa Koya then struck two goals, in the 62nd and 73rd minutes, for Uchiyama Atsushi’s side.
Turkey edged Slovakia on penalties following a 1-1 draw to come in third.
