Match Report

U-18 Japan National Team played a training match against Shizuoka Sangyo University on the last day of the camp.

Japan took the initiative from the beginning of the game, and after nine minute, DOAN Ritsu took a powerful long-distance shot with his left foot from near the penalty area, and struck the opener. Then in the 17th minute, URATA Itsuki scored with his left foot directly from a free kick, which Japan earned 30 metres from the goal.

In the second half, Japan continued to dictate the pace. OGAWA Koki added more insurance within four minutes. He got his hat trick, scoring with his left foot in the 55th minute, with his right foot in the 57th minute, and on a header in the 58th minute.

Japan kept attacking, creating more goal-scoring opportunities. However, they could not find the back of the net any more due to a lack of accuracy in the final passes. The team won the game against Shizuoka Sangyo University 5-0 to finish their training camp prior to the championship.

The U-18 Japan National Team will leave for Laos, in which the qualifying round will be held, on 27 September.

Players' Comments

KISHIMOTO Takeru (Cerezo Osaka U-18)
I picked up an injury just before the training camp, and joined the team’s training session yesterday. So I played a training match for the first time in this camp. As I couldn’t coordinate well with my teammates for set pieces in the game, I’d like to get myself ready and communicate with my teammates more during training sessions, so that I’ll play better in the first match against Laos. I’ll do my best for the team.

SUZUKI Tokuma (University of Tsukuba)
Today we finished our domestic training camp before the championship. With today’s victory, we got ourselves ready for the Asian qualifying round. I’ll play with pride as a member of the national team, thinking of all the people that have been supporting us. Please give us a big cheer from Japan.

MORISHIMA Tsukasa (Yokkaichi Chuo Technical High School)
We played against Shizuoka Sangyo University today. I think we improved our defence since the previous match, and the opponent couldn’t send many forward passes this time. We’ll leave for Laos tomorrow. So I’d like to get myself into good physical and mental condition prior to the championship.

MACHIDA Koki (Kashima Antlers Youth)
As it was the last match before the qualifying round, all the players played the game with great concentration. There is still some room to improve in both defence and attack, but we all shared what to do and the direction we are heading in. I’m especially pleased that we kept clean sheets through two consecutive matches. I’d like to show what we’ve achieved in these two games in the coming Asian qualifying round.
