Coach and Players' Comments
UCHIYAMA Atsushi, Coach
We had a productive training camp, in which the players played aggressively, just like the one in Osaka at the beginning of April. They put in excellent performances in today’s training match, while finding some areas for improvement. One of the problems was we were intercepted easily from mistakes in controlling the ball or passing, even though the player was not being marked. It usually ended with the opponent taking a shot. If the opponent is strong, they will not miss this kind of opportunity to strike a goal. I’d like the players to bear in mind the real thing when they practice.
KOJIMA Ryosuke (Waseda University)
During this training camp, I believe I could improve a little in attack, defence, communication and coordination with others. We achieved good combinations toward the goal in today’s match, but we couldn’t find the back of the net due to the quality of our shots. In terms of defence, we couldn’t perform well enough despite numerical advantages, which led us to concede a goal. There is still plenty room to improve both in attack and defence, especially when we’re under pressure. I’d like to work on individual tasks, which I found in this camp, so that I can improve the team.
SATO Ryo (Meiji University)
I appreciate the fact that I got called in to join this camp. I believe I displayed my strengths in the game against Jubilo Iwata. Having said that, I found many problems that need detailed attention. So I’d like to work on those from now on. I’ll play hard, so that I can join the next camp.
ICHIMARU Mizuki (Gamba Osaka)
I had a very productive time. Although we lost the game, it was meaningful, as we found things we need to do both as individuals and as a team. I need to raise the level as an individual back in my club, so that I can improve this team. So I’ll practice hard in my everyday training.
IWASAKI Yuto (Kyoto Tachibana High School)
We found many issues to be improved as individuals and as a team during this camp. I’m not satisfied with the result or the performance in the game against Jubilo Iwata today, even though we could have showed what we’ve been practicing in our training. In order to improve on my tasks as soon as possible, I’d like to face them back at my club and get myself ready to play internationally. I’ll do my best to join the national team again.
