U-19 Japan Women's National Team begin prep training camp for AFC U-19 Women's Championship China 2015

U-19 Japan Women's National Team began their training camp on Monday 10 August in Wakayama Prefecture ahead of the AFC U-19 Women's Championship China 2015.

After warming up their body running on their own, the squad worked on a drill that finishes with a shot at the end of play after exchanging passes between three players starting from the halfway line. The young squad finished their training of the day with offensive workouts such as side attacks and 3-on-2 drills in an outnumbered situation.

They had a meeting together after dinner. Japan coach TAKAKURA Asako said to the players, "Respect your mates and play the tournament. I want the team to become the one where you all can encourage each other when you struggle, get depressed. And do not forget gratitude to those who engage in football and people around you and have a sense of responsibility as a Japanese international.

Players' Comments

SONODA Mizuki (Musashigaoka College)
Even though I'm in a high-level environment, I will play my game and showcase what I have, and then contribute to the team. Taking great care of teamwork, we will build a good team and overwhelm the opponents in the Asian qualifiers for the World cup ticket. We will support and encourage each other in the team.

And we will try to fire up each other to improve as a whole. I still have a lot to improve as well, so I will try hard in this camp to get better as much as possible and to get ready for the tournament in good form.

MATSUBARA Shiho (Cerezo Osaka Sakai Ladies)
We had offensive training in most part of the session today. There are a lot of teams who sit back in their end against Japan, so we had a lot of shooting drills to score, no matter who it is and no matter what position it is at. We finished fourth in the last AFC U-19 Women's Championship and missed the World Cup. This time, we will definitely win and clinch the World Cup spot. I will try my best to contribute to the team.

HIRAO Chika (Urawa Reds Ladies)
Our objective in this AFC U-19 Women's Championship is, of course, to win the championship. We will unite as a team and we wouldn't achieve the goal unless we boost up each other. I will brace myself up and get prepared to commit to team's win, but also I want to become a player who can lead my teammates.
