Commemorating the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation: JENESYS U-17 Women’s Football Memorial Cup to be held

As part of the Japan Football Association's (JFA) commitment to support “JENESYS," a programme promoted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, JFA will carry out the “JENESYS U-17 Women’s Football Memorial Cup” which will take place from Thursday 16 March at Uruma City in Okinawa. The event will serve as an exchange platform for the youth in Japan and the countries of ASEAN.

In this commemorative event, the U-17 women's national teams and club teams from nine ASEAN countries and Timor-Leste will be invited to join the U-16 Japan Women's National Team and the U-17 Uruma City Select Team, for friendly matches and exchanges between the 12 teams. During their stay, the participating teams will have the opportunity to experience Japanese culture in Okinawa and Tokyo, and watch the KIRIN CHALLENGE CUP 2023.

Commemorating the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation:
JENESYS U-17 Women’s Football Memorial Cup

Dates: Thu. 16 March - Tue. 21 March
※Teams will be in Japan from Wed. 15 March to Sat. 25 March

Venue: Uruma Gushikawa Multipurpose Baseball Ground (Uruma, Okinawa)

Participating Teams: U-17 women's national teams or club teams from nine ASEAN countries (Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam), Timor-Leste, U-16 Japan National Team, U-17 Uruma City Select Team

Tournament Format:
・Each team will consist with female players under the age of 17
・12 teams will be divided into four groups of three teams
・Round robin group stage followed by play-offs to decide rankings
・Each team may carry up to 17 players and 5 staff

Remarks:
Participating teams of the tournament will be given the opportunity to observe and experience the Japanese culture during their stay

The JENESYS Programme (Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths) is a project advanced by the Japanese government from the standpoint of providing a sound foundation for strong solidarity within Asian and Oceanian countries through large-scale youth exchange. Aimed to promote mutual understanding and friendly relations, JTB Corporation is in charge of conducting the programme by accepting, dispatching, and exchanging leaders of the next generation.
