U-17 Japan Women’s National Team start training camp prior to FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016

The U-17 Japan Women’s National Team started their final training camp on Tuesday 20 September in Shizuoka, in preparation for the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016, which will be held from Friday 30 September.

Since some of the players will join the team on 22 September due to the schedule of regional qualifiers for the Empress's Cup and other official matches, only 13 players were able to attend the camp today. In the middle of a downpour, under the supervision of coach KUSUNOSE Naoki, the team started their training with passing, controlling and keeping possession exercises. Then, they moved on to five-on-five drills with a neutral player and played a practice game, while checking on their fitness levels. Everyone stayed vocal and practiced hard to finish the first day of their training camp.

The team will play a training match against FC Verdure Mishima (ninth-grade boys) on Wednesday 21 September.

MF #10 NAGANO Fuka (Urawa Red Diamonds Ladies Youth)
The coming FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016 is vital for us, as we’re aiming to become back-to-back champions. However, I just want to display our Japanese playing style. I expect every match will be tough. So I’ll play tenaciously as part of a united team. I’ll enjoy myself as much as possible and showcase my skills on the world stage, so that I won’t regret it later. I hope to come back to Japan with the very best smile.

MF #8 MIYAZAWA Hinata (Seisa Kokusai High School Shonan)
I’d like to display what we’ve been practicing together up until now in the coming games of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Jordan 2016, not to mention, of course, aiming to win the championship. To achieve this, I’d like to make the most of our remaining training session and practice focusing on details each time. Personally, I hope to create many goal-scoring opportunities in front of the goal with my speed and initiate our attacks. I will play with gratitude for the people who have been supporting us, and we will play hard as a united team.
