Prince Takamado Trophy U-18 Football League 2014 Premier League EAST, Week 5 Preview
08 May 2014
The Prince Takamado Trophy U-18 Football League 2014 Premier League EAST will have its week 5 matches on Sunday 11 May.
The 8th placed Consadole Sapporo U-18 (Hokkaido) will take on the 9th placed Aomori Yamada High School (Aomori). Last week Sapporo lost to Tokyo Verdy Youth (Tokyo) 1-4 despite scoring the first goal of the match. Aomori Yamada also struggled to defend their goal in the last two matches. As their head coach Kuroda Go describes as “not being able to close out”, they allowed two goals in the second halves of both matches. Noguchi Yuki looks to change that trend, saying “We want to stay focused and win. We want to head into the break with good momentum going.” It’s worth watching which team seize an opportunity to move up in the standings.
Ryutsu Keizai University Kashiwa High School will play the Chiba Derby against Ichiritsu Funabashi High School. RKU Kashiwa have not lost any match so far. In the last match against Mitsubishi Ryowa SC Youth (Tokyo), after letting Mitsubishi Ryowa take the lead three times, they tied the match one last time in the additional time. Ichiritsu Funabashi, meanwhile, got the first victory of the season last week against Kashima Antlers Youth (Ibaraki) and will battle against RKU Kashiwa for a consecutive win.
Kashiwa Reysol U-18 (Chiba) will match up against Mitsubishi Ryowa. Kashiwa have allowed only two goals so far in four matches played, which is the fewest in the EAST. Shimohira Takahiro, Kashiwa’s head coach, says his team “will try to minimize the risk of allowing a goal by keeping the ball up high on the field.” In another match, JFA Academy Fukushima (Fukushima) without a victory yet in the season will fight for the first win against Tokyo Verdy. JFA Academy Fukushima have allowed at least one goal in every match so far, so holding Tokyo scoreless will be definitely the big key.

Kashima Antlers Youth vs Shimizu S-Pulse Youth
Kashima and Shimizu S-Pulse Youth (Shizuoka) will go head to head at Kashima Soccer Stadium. The tall defender duo of Machida Koki, 187cm tall, and Terakado Yuto, 183cm tall, led Kashima’s stellar defence, which did not allow a goal to the opposition in two of four matches in this season. Kashima see this match against Shimizu as no exception, as they maintain their guard high and strong and aim for another three points. In contrast, Shimizu’s offence has been so overpowering that they have scored three goals in four straight matches. In week 2 against JFA Academy Fukushima and last week against Aomori Yamada, even after allowing the opposition to lead at some point in the match, they convincingly fought back and pulled out victories. Players are confident, saying “We are getting better and better as we play every game” and all ready to attack Kashima’s home field.
