Match Report

The Japan national Under-19 team held a training match with Omiya Ardija. Early in it, the Under-19 squad allowed Ardija to move the ball and have the momentum. And Omiya scored a goal from the national team's right side on ninth minute. But the Under-19 team eventually got their own rhythm and started moving the ball, creating some shooting chances. Japan looked for some scoring opportunities as Sekine attack from the right side dribbling while Aoki kept the ball seeking to feed through passes to his teammates that were in the front. Yet they couldn't score one as the first half ended.

The Under-19 squad entered the latter half, substituting some members, but they retained their composure and kept rotating the ball on their own rhythm. However, they were loose defensively and allowed another goal to the opponents from a set play. Trying to rally back from the two-goal deficit, Japan attempted to have their attacks from their sides.
Then on 76th minute, Aoki netted a goal from a corner kick to cut the gap to one. Japan had more chances afterward, but the game finished as it was.
The Japan Under-19 team lost 1-2, but they showed some plays that they could capitalize on for their next games, and for the players, it was a good occasion to showcase their own games.

Comments

MOTEGI Rikiya(Urawa Reds Youth)
We allowed our opponents to have the ball too long early on, so we put our defensive line up and began playing trying to decide the first defender afterwards. Since we were able to get the ball when our defense was working from the front, so from our next matches on, I want to give instructions to my teammates to decide our first defender from early.

ANDO Akira(Fukushima United FC)
What we have to reflect on today's match is that we couldn't make actions from ourselves to get the ball. While we struggled to get the ball, we felt we lacked our communication in between, so we would like to share our thoughts on how we should have our defence as the whole team. We have another match tomorrow, so we hope to reflect on today's match and have better plays.

SAWAI Naoto(Tokyo Verdy)
I was selected for this team for the first time and had never played with majority of the players, but I think that I could have good communication with them. In the match, I was playing with the idea of how I should play against players of higher levels in my mind. I want to take advantage of this experience for the next time.

SUGAJIMA Hiroki(Tokyo Verdy)
It's still been a short time, but I've received so much inspiration from the players of the same generation in my first national team training camp in a while. I want to do my best, taking communication with as many players as possible in the reminder of the schedule.

MIYAHARA Kazuya(Sanfrecce Hiroshima)
I played as the left sick back. Defensively, I need to talk to our defenders so it would be easier for them to have their defence, while moving these players more. Individually, there were occasion that I thought I could have approached with the opposing players more. Offensively, I could have launched more crosses and attacked dribbling, so I want to select my own plays seeing the timings from the next time. In tomorrow's match, I want to get involved in our offence as much as possible so I could contribute to our scoring chances.
