Tokushima Municipal High School (Tokushima Prefecture) 1, Kagoshima United FC (Kagoshima Prefecture) 7 (0-3 in first half, 1-4 in second half)
This year's Emperor's Cup features three youth-generation teams in Tokushima Municipal High (Tokushima Prefecture), Yamanashi Gakuin University High (Yamanashi Prefecture) and Montedio Yamagata Youth (Yamagata Prefecture) (As of 5th July). Tokushima Municipal High, who are making their second appearance in the tourney, first in 16 years, will be fired up in their first-round match, seeking to take on Tokushima Vortis, who will enter from the second round, in all-Tokushima matchup.
Kagoshima United, who was established to aim at making the J. League united with FC Kagoshima this January, are in the annual tourney for the first time ever. Kagoshima have given up just five goals in 13 games played and were second in the first stage of this year's Japan Football League season.
The rainy season was still on-going and the match between the two kicked off in a humid and hot weather with a temperature of 28 degrees. But it was Kagoshima United who dominated the ball, capitalizing on their ability being in the runnerup place in the JFL, from early on and have attacks on Tokushima Municipal High's goal. On 15th minute, Maeda Shodai, who received a pass from Yanagizaki Shohei, floated a shot past the goalkeeper into the goal mouth to give Kagoshima United a lead. That gave the team a boost even more, and Yanagizaki, who this time got a pass Yamada Yuya, netted another on 35th, and then Kuriyama Yuki took advantage of an assist by Yamada and added another to make the score 3-0 before halftime.
Meanwhile, Tokushima Municipal High sought some payback in the second half. Their players were instructed by their coach Kawano Hiroyuki that they should put more pressure when their opponents have the ball on sides and the two attacking forwards should be more connected with each other.
And then, on 53rd minute, they had a scoring opportunity as Onishi Chisei got himself a space behind the defensive line and fired a shot, but it was deflected by the goal post.
Kagoshima United didn't back away with the Tokushima shot, and Maeda netted his second goal of the day on 55th minute. They shoed no mercy offensively and extended their lead to five on an own goal on 60th minute.
But Tokushima didn't put their heads down, keeping to attack on the opponents' goal. On 84th, they finally scored a goal back as Kishida Taisei, who received a pass from Onishi, composedly put it in. At the moment, there were big applauses and handclaps from the stands to celebrate the score by the local team.
Five minutes after the emotional goal by Tokushima, Maeda completed a hat trick, presenting Kagoshima United their sixth goal, and then added another in the stoppage time before the match was over. Kagoshima routed Tokushima 7-1.
Kagoshima United advanced and will take on a J1 side Tokushima Vortis on 12th July in second round action.

KAWANO Hiroyuki,Head Coach(Tokushima Municipal High School)
Partially because they were in the middle of their term-end exams, the players hadn't been able to have sufficient practices pushing themselves physically, and they couldn't move their legs in this humidity in the end. Before the match, I told our guys to tighten up the middle defensively and try to have short counters as quickly as they could. But the differences in the instant speed and physicality with the adult players exposed in the end, and it put us in tougher situations. Also, we had few occasions to have plays that connect between our offence and defence as the whole team. Yet we had a few occasions that we were able to attack behind their defensive line moving the ball with proper distances between our men, and scored a goal given the tough situations, and we take those positively. Now I think that toward the inter-high school meets, we are going to have to run more, not get beaten on one-on-one situations and make quicker shifts from defence to offence with better connections as a team.
