JFA-KIRIN Family Futsal Festival Report - 250 family members came to Maishima Arena in Osaka!

The JFA-KIRIN Family Futsal Festival is a fun event for everyone, where you can enjoy a kick-about with your family. The festival is hosted by JFA and the Prefectural Football Associations and held in 10 locations across the country this year. Any team, which has more than five players including women and elementary school students, can participate. One team can also contain more than one family.

Approximately more than 250 family members took part in the event at the Maishima Arena in Osaka on Saturday 19 July. At the ‘Kirin Futsal Lesson’ you could get tips on how to enjoy futsal with your family. This lesson is for the elementary school student, who has been practicing football very hard and is close to beating his father, who doesn’t have enough stamina; or the girl, who dreams of becoming a member of Nadeshiko Japan, and comes with her inexperienced mother. Sagane Kiyoshi, a former member of the Futsal Japan National Team, joined the lesson as an instructor.

The ‘Family Award’ was given to the family, who enjoyed the day most together; the ‘Futsal Award’ was given to those who played futsal in a serious manner to win; and the ‘Festival Award’ to those, who brought uniqueness to the event and enjoyed the day. From the special sponsor Kirin Groups, ‘Kirin Ichiban Award’ was given to the team, in which a father tried the hardest and ‘, ‘Kirin Loves Sports Award’ to the one, in which a child tried the hardest, and ‘Afternoon Tea Award’ to the one in which a woman played the hardest.

Habu Yukari from participating team ‘time de KUSUNOKI’
I had a great experience today, coming here with my family. I practice with my mates in the neighborhood once a week. My kid was crying because we lost. I was surprised that he was so grown up. I’d like to take part again.

There were many children who were very eager to learn. We enjoyed ourselves, watching many fathers and mothers having a good time. Having fun is a good start. I realised it again when I watched the world cup. It’s also very important to kick the ball as much as you can. I hope today was a good opportunity for parents and children to kick the ball and communicate a lot. I thought the main instructor, Sagane Kiyoshi, was very good.
There might be some who experienced futsal for the first time through this event.
I’d like people to come and see Shriker Osaka or Voscuore Sendai play, so that they can learn something new. Watching high-level matches helps you improve in both futsal and football.
