JFA Academy Fukushima Women’s squad experience rice harvest

Women’s junior high school squad of JFA Academy Fukushima went for rich harvest experience on 4 October. After five months since the girls planted rice paddies, the paddies grew to be a beautiful golden colour. The young players harvested paddies with great care, remembering their hard work of planting and removing weeds as well as feeling pleasure in harvest.

TOMIOKA Chihiro(9th term)
After I learned how to do it, and when I actually tried to do that, I needed more power than I expected. After grasping the technique, I became able to do it faster. What I learned from the harvesting is that we can get a lot of rice at one-time harvest. So in order to do it, I found rice harvesting requires work from a lot of people. I usually eat rice without any thought, but I want to eat it with more sense of gratitude.

NEZU Makoto(8th term)
This was my first time to experience rice harvesting. I experienced the whole series from planting in May to harvesting this time, so I learned how hard farming rice is, which I eat in my daily life. Rice harvesting cannot be completed with only one person. I learned rice is made by a lot of people cooperating with each other. I’ll live my life as appreciating the fact I am blessed with delicious rice we have

TAKAHIRA Miyu(7th term)
That was my first time to harvest rice, and I found cropping the paddies with my own hands is very tough work. We’ve done some work that requires patience like planting paddies and getting rid of weeds, and I’m happy to see the grown paddies. I will live my own life as keeping in mind to work on various things patiently with care.
