Prefectural Football Association Activities - Futsal (Miyazaki Football Association)

This article is part of an introduction to the policies and activities of each Prefectural Football Association divided into 12 categories: “Senior”, “Class 1”, “Class 2”, “Class 3”, “Class 4”, “Kids”, “Women”, “Futsal”, “Beach Soccer”, “Referees Committee”, “Facilities Committee (Environmental Maintenance)” and “Technical Committee.” We hope you read this article through and become familiar with the various activities held across the country.

We will again introduce activities of “Futsal” in this article following the last issue.
Note: The following article appears at the “REGIEONAL NEWS” section in the November issue of the JFA news.

Futsal activities - Miyazaki Football Association

“’Kyushu stands as one' Coordinate with other prefectures and grow together in competitive environment.”
GOTO Koichiro, Futsal Committee Chairman of Miyazaki Football Association

We established the futsal association in Miyazaki in 2006 and started the prefectural league then, which was latest in Kyushu. We have also taken part in the “National Selection Futsal Tournament” since the same year. At first, we didn’t have so many administrators, futsal coaches and referees, so it was quite a hard time. But we appreciate that we have been successful in developing ourselves thanks to supervision and supports from many people including committee chairmen and other officials of each Kyushu prefecture and coaches from each team in the Kyushu League.

In the recent years, we have more staff who can take on match commissioners and event administrators. With the slogan “Kyushu stands as one,” we participated in the “Kyushu Futsal Match Commissioner Training Programme” and the “discussion meeting by futsal administrators from Kyushu prefectures.” That increased the number of staff numbers and enhanced our level of growth. To raise the number of administrators, we will continue to actively participate in administrator meetings and Kyushu’s events.

Because Miyazaki Prefecture does not have any private facility, public facilities such as gymnasiums are used for our events. There had been lots of facilities prohibiting the use for futsal before. But as the public awareness for futsal became higher, they began to allow for the futsal use. Now we are able to hold and operate various tournaments, league matches and Kyushu championships.

In terms of competitiveness, Kyushu teams play a number of national tournaments such as “the All Japan Women's Futsal Tournament,” “the All Japan Youth (U-15) Futsal Championship” and “the All Japan University Futsal Championship.” Additionally, prefecture selection U-18 team and Miyazaki Kogyo High School football club participated in “the U-18 Futsal Tournament 2014” this March and “the 1st All Japan Youth (U-18) Futsal Tournament presented by BallBall” this August, respectively.

To catch up with the equal level to Kyushu and turn in good performance on the national stage, we put focus on the development of coaches, U-15, U-18 and women’s categories under the president’s mission “Promoting M7 Futsal development.”

Our goal is that any of our prefecture’s team enters the Kyushu Futsal League within three years and our selection team plays the National Selection Futsal Tournament within five years. And we are now in process of launching a futsal training centre and will hold it within this fiscal year. We will work hard on not only enhancing the development of Miyazaki’s futsal but also making growth as we cultivate ourselves together with Kyushu people under the slogan “Kyushu stands as one.”
