Coach and Players Comments
HOSHIHARA Takaaki, Coach
While the camp got into the fourth day and our players got tired with training and practice matches, we aggressively tried from the beginning to “pull together in attack and defence” and “get the ball up front,” which are the concepts of our team. But as the match went on and our fatigue accumulated, we sometimes made decisions slowly and lacked attention to look around. We still need to improve each play on the spot and pursue its quality. As a whole, each player was thinking for himself what the training was for and working on various assignments throughout the match.
SAKUTA Ryutaro (Vissel Kobe U-15)
In today’s match, we were able to get the ball against tall opponents when we are on defence. On the other hand, our finishes weren’t accurate. Finishing quality decides you win or lose. What I personally could do well was I went up and joined our attack more often than I normally do. If our cross balls had been more accurate, we could have scored more goals, I think. I will keep doing what I learned in this camp. I will do my best to get selected to this team again.
SHINONAGA Yudai (FUT6)
What was good today was that we could defend well against bigger players by using our expectations and our bodies well. Quickness is my strength and my quickness worked against high school players, so it gave me confidence. It was also good that our transition between offence and defence was fast. What we need to work on from now is accuracy of each play like finishing and sending a cross. I will remember what I learned in this elite program even after I go back to my club, and I will always take advantage of it in every practice and match to play. I will keep working to be called upon the national team.
WAKATSUKI Teru (Albirex Niigata U-15)
It was my second time to play in this elite program. Before it started, I told myself to communicate well during matches. It was something I couldn’t do well in the last camp. In today’s match, as a side-back I could join our offence nicely and on defence I could put my body to each opponent to get the ball. When I played a defensive midfielder position, which I don’t usually do, I tried to keep watching around for what was happening. What I need to keep working is to get better at feeding cross balls and long balls up front. Especially I will work on feeding quality cross balls with using my left foot. When I go back to my club, I will tell my teammates what I learned in this camp so that all my teammates will be able to play better.
OUCHI Issei (Yokohama FC Junior Youth)
As a team, I think everyone could play each role well both in offence and defence. Personally, I could play 1-on-1 better than I usually do. Also after catching the ball, I could throw good balls to our forwards in a way they wanted and by doing that I could help our offence. So that was good, too. What I couldn’t do well was to do something for my team when our team didn’t have a good rhythm. I have to think about what I can do to help when things are not going well. My goal is to get selected onto the U-15 national team. So I will take advantage of what I learned in this elite program and I will keep playing well to get called up.
