Match Report

The U-15 Japan National squad, who aim to participate in the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2017, played their second practice match.

This time the team consisted of the players from East Japan. In the morning, the team played against Shonan Bellmare Youth. As all the players were replaced at half time, they could keep playing aggressively both in attack and defence. Although they played well, the score stayed equal until after 81 minutes. Then the team conceded a goal from a defensive mistake and lost the game 1-0.

In the afternoon, the U-15 Japan National squad met Atsugi Kita High School. Although the players had to play on the muddy pitch because of some unfortunate rain, they started to press hard just after the kick-off. In the 8th minute, OOMOMO Leon struck the opener. The players defended with all their power against the opponent, who were physically stronger. The score stayed at 1-0, and they won the match. They will hold the last practice session in the morning on the last day of their camp tomorrow.

Players'Comments

IKARASHI Arata(Albirex Niigata U-15)
First, I couldn't answer the head coach’s request, but I gradually became able to play how he wanted me to. I could play, bearing defence in mind, which was the team’s aim and also using my body against strong pressure from the front or in front of the goal. However, although I was supposed to pass the ball towards the front, I couldn’t thread a through ball or a long-distance pass to the space behind the forwards. I’d like to improve how I place the ball or which direction I face when I receive it. By practicing repeatedly, I want to develop my special advantage, just like ENDO Yasuhito’s, which I watched on the video during the training camp.

NAKAMURA Keito(Mitsubishi Yowa SC Sugamo Junior Youth)
As the opponent was physically strong and they put strong pressure on the ball, I couldn’t play as I wanted. Having said that, we never gave up our solid defence, which was our team concept, and I could react to through-passes several times. I’d like to improve how I receive the ball, and I want to score in the practice match tomorrow.
