Japan Futsal National Team shortlisted squad training camp report (6/2)
03 June 2015
On the second day of their camp, the team cancelled the morning session to have a team meeting together.
The players reviewed several points such as the level of quality head coach Miguel requires and how to build up the game by looking back the video footage of last December's international friendly against Croatia. It was an opportunity for the newly-called-up players to understand the futsal style that their boss tries to instil.
In the afternoon, the squad refreshed their mind and started full-scale training. Three of the goalkeepers came out to the training site earlier than other players and worked on concentrated drills mainly to strengthen responses to the ball under the instructions by goalkeeper coach Komori. After other players joining the session, the players focused on training to create goal-scoring opportunities through passing exchanges between players and reviewed their tactics on how to "break through" the opponents. At the end, they had match-style practice in three groups. Japan's boss made small adjustments by halting plays during the match to confirm how they can take advantage of what they reviewed beforehand in actual matches. With the second day of their training coming to the end, the sense of tension among the team have been increasing gradually.
Players' Comments
SATO Toru (SHRIKER OSAKA)
It's been a while since we last had the national team training camp. So we check again the discipline of the national team at the video meeting, and we are trying to create an environment where new faces and returning players can make delicate communications. There is only a day left in this short three-day camp. We will try to make more communications on and off the pitch, not wasting the remaining time. I want to get lots of inspiration from high-level teammates, who I usually play against in the league matches and hopefully improve as an individual.
NISHITANI Ryosuke (FUGADOR SUMIDA)
The mood of the team is fine after the second day and we are taking up the training under a very positive sense of tension. Even though we have only three days left, there are some new faces, so we will work seriously on the everyday training, communicate with each other well and get motivated by each other.
