Leaders Omiya to meet Sapporo in Prince Takamado Trophy U-18 Premier League EAST

The 12th Sec. of the Prince Takamado Trophy U-18 Premier League EAST will be held on Sunday 30 August.

Aomori Yamada High School (Aomori), who have won three consecutive games, will play against Kashiwa Reysol U-18 (Chiba). Aomori Yamada have shown overwhelming strength at home in this season with three wins and two draws, without conceding more than one goal in each game except once. They will play aggressively to gain three points even against Kashiwa, who are on a losing streak without any scores.

Ryutsukeizaidai Kashiwa (Chiba) will meet Kashima Antlers Youth (Ibaraki) to start their own winning streak. In the previous Sec., Ryutsukeizaidai beat F.C. Tokyo U-18 (Tokyo) 1-0, winning for the first time since the 5th Sec. After the coach HONDA Yuichiro pointed out: “the players cannot intercept the ball well”, the team’s defence has been improved and prevented a sixth consecutive defeat.

As Ryutsukeizaidai usually finish their team building around summer every year, their performance in the match against Kashima may give an indication of the team’s future.

Both JFA Academy Fukushima (Shizuoka) and F.C. Tokyo are desperate to get three points in this Sec., as they could not add any in the previous one. JFA Academy Fukushima, who have not scored any in the previous two games, are eager to strike the opener to pick up their pace. The team took 10 shots in the second half against Aomori Yamada, and staying calm in front of the goal is their key point in this Sec.

F.C. Tokyo, on the other hand, have not been able to strike more than one goal in each game since the 7th Sec. They have to focus on their attacking issues. SATO Ryo, who is emerging as the top scorer with 11 goals, has been marked closely in the previous three games, and was only able to take five shots. So other attackers have to do something from now on.

Shimizu S-Pulse Youth (Shizuoka) will meet Ichiritsu Funabashi High School (Chiba) at home. Shimizu have recently shown their tenacity in the second half of the last three games. In the second half, they only let the opponent take three shots in the 9th Sec., two in the 10th Sec., and none in the previous Sec, against Kashiwa.

HIRAOKA Hiroaki, who used to play as a defender, has been leading Shimizu to improve their defence strongly. We cannot take our eyes off how Shimizu will play against the Inter-high school championship finalists, Ichiritsu Funabashi.

[Pick-up Match - EAST Matchday 12]
Omiya Ardija Youth  vs  Consadole Sapporo U-18

Omiya Ardija Youth (Saitama) will play against Consadole Sapporo U-18 (Hokkaido) to keep the lead. Although Omiya could not use No.10 KUROKAWA Atsushi on the pitch in the previous Sec. due to his being out of condition, the team let Ichiritsu Funabashi take only three shots and won the game 1-0.

They won the first game of the third round, winning four consecutive matches. The team’s strength is a flowing attack. They conceded only six goals in 11 games; four of them were through the opponent’s set pieces, showing their solid defence without much weakness.

Sapporo, on the other hand, are one of the very few teams who scored against Omiya not through a set piece. They earned one point against Kashima in the previous Sec., who were in the lead back then, getting more confidence as a result. This match will be once more against the top team, but there will be a big hope for them to remain in the league if they earn some points in this coming game.
